MY VERDICT: Carey Mulligan may have opted for a softer shade at the premiere of “The Great Gatsby”, but her co-star made an attempt to spice up the red carpet in a gown to match. Isla attended the opening ceremony gala wearing an Oscar de la Renta carnation bouquet lace sweetheart gown with a full ruffled skirt. A similar style was presented during the Bridal 2014 collection by the designer. The dress is fun and it fits Isla very well, but while I don’t dislike it, I guess I was just expecting something really unique and memorable for this particular event. I feel like different versions of this dress have been worn too many times.

Frankly, if it even carried the same full shape of the Bridal line design pictured above, it would have made a bigger impact.

Isla styled her hair in celebrity-favorite cascading waves before finishing her look with gold jewelry from Bulgari. In fact, I think my favorite part of this whole outfit would that stunning 18kt yellow gold statement necklace that’s filled with blue topazes, amethysts, green tourmalines, peridots, citrine quartz, rhodolite garnets and pavé diamonds. Simply breathtaking.

MY VERDICT: Repping the music of “The Great Gatsby”, Florence Welch of the band Florence + the Machine celebrated the premiere of the movie during the 2013 Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony gala tonight in head-to-toe Miu Miu. The “Over the Love” singer hit the red carpet in a pink ensemble Barbie would pass out over from the Fall 2013 collection. The three-quarter sleeve silk taffeta dress features black polka dots and finishes with chantilly lace that stands out against the pastel canvas.

Frankly, a dress this ‘loud’ is a difficult one to pull off for even the biggest fashion overachiever, but leave it up to Florence to take it on anyway. WHERE & WHEN: “Black Rock” Hollywood screening on May 8, 2013.
WEARING: Miu Miu dress, Prada shoes and clutch

MY VERDICT: After donning a shocking pink mini at the MET ball earlier in the week, Kate opted for a more subdued shade at the special Hollywood screening of her new movie “Black Rock”. The 30-year-old actress arrived at the ArcLight Hollywood theater wearing a Miu Miu ivory and slate blue godet skirted dress, which featured an exquisite pearl and crystal embroidered sleeveless bodice. The intense flounce skirt both flattered and lengthened Kate’s lithe shape, which is refreshing since this style has the tendency to truncate or add unnecessary width to teh body.

With a sleek low ponytail and a pop of punchy red on her pout, Kate finished off the look with a pair of silver leather décolleté pumps and a python clutch–both from Prada.

WHO: Sami Gayle
WHERE & WHEN: “Side Effects” New York premiere on January 31, 2013.
WEARING: MIU MIU dress & shoes

MY VERDICT: Sami kept her ladylike cool on the red carpet for the “Side Effects” premiere when she stepped out in head-to-toe Miu Miu.  The 17-year-old actress rocked her swept pixie haircut with a white silk sleeveless blouse paired with a crystal embroidered collar and a cream, gold silk+linen macramé jumper accented with gold buttons.  I adore the school girl style of the dress, but the added effects of large diamond stud earrings and nude cracle’ leather pumps kept it from being childish.

Glossy lips and a sheer manicure helped complete Sami’s look.

WHO: Dakota Fanning
WHERE & WHEN: “Very Good Girls” 2013 Sundance Film Festival Premiere on January 22, 2013.
WEARING: Miu Miu top, Louis Vuitton skirt, Azzedine Alaïa shoes & Cartier jewelry.

MY VERDICT: It was so great to see Dakota back out on the red (err–brown) carpet!  We haven’t seen a lot of her at major events lately as she’s been going to school and filming movies, but she was able to make it out to Sundance this year to support her film “Very Good Girls” and wore a very good outfit.  I adore her navy ribbed crewneck Miu Miu crop top that she so wisely paired with a Louis Vuitton short black skirt with navy baroque embroidery, which comes from the brand spanking new Pre-Fall 2013 collection.

It’s such a pretty skirt, but the top, sheer black tights and mesh inset Azzedine Alaïa hidden platform booties definitely toughened it up to a cool youthful look with some edge.  | continue reading..

WHERE & WHEN: 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards, held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills on January 13, 2013.

MY VERDICT: It was so nice to see Adele back out on the red carpet for the Golden Globes last night, but it was even better to see her snag a trophy of her own for the beautiful theme to “Skyfall” that she recorded.  The new mama looked beautiful in her custom-made black Burberry gown, which featured flattering cropped long sleeves and an embroidered neck.  With her signature heightened hair, cat-lined eyes and red talon nails in place,  Adele completed her look with diamond jewelry and a pair of Miu Miu heels.  I love her retro style;  you really have to own it or else it looks forced and tacky.  She emitted nothing but beauty and class.

MY VERDICT: Kerry continued her epic stylish streak tonight when she rocked the red carpet in a beautiful custom made dress by Miu Miu.  Because of her small frame, this sleek sleeveless nude stretch-tulle and cady gown was perfect for the “Scandal” star.  The back of the dress was solid nude as well as the neckline ring, built in belt and lining, but the entire front panel was sheer, which allowed for the scattered design of hand-embroidered Swarovski crystals to really pop.

This was such an unexpected design tonight—and I love it!  With her shoulder length tresses in super straight strands and flawless makeup, Kerry finished with a satin clutch and pointed toe pumps to keep the streamlined visual effective.

FYI: Kerry’s wearing Chopard‘s green diamond cocktail ring set in rose-cut diamond pave and 18-karat white and rose gold.

WHERE & WHEN: 18th Annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards, held at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica on January 10, 2013.

MY VERDICT: Yowza! Emily looked phenomenal last night in her white silk crepe Miu Miu dress, which featured beautiful pearl pailette embroidery along the neckline that turned into a criss-cross open back.  This super sexy dress enhanced the retro glamour the “Looper” star was obviously going for considering her stunning Old Hollywood pin-waves, which were softly pinned at the front with a single gold bobby pin.  She continued adding shimmering metallic effects with a woven satin clutch, two Graziela rings and a pair of glitter champagne gold Prada sandals.  I love how they picked up the crisscrossing detail from her dress.  This look was topped off with non-other than flawless ruby red lips. | continue reading..

Fresh off her trip to the London Evening Standard Theatre Awards the night before, Felicity Jones hit up the pop-up opening of the-miumiu-london, a temporary women’s club in London, on Tuesday wearing an off-runway look from Miu Miu‘s Fall-Winter 2012 collection.

The “Like Crazy” actress looked adorable in her short sleeve black knit top with a embellished white peter pan collar that she partnered with a circle mirror appliquéd mini skirt. Felicity kept her updated school girl ensemble cold-weather-ready with black opaque tights and matching patent square toe pumps.

She kept her outfit from being too cutesy with loose natural waves, smoky eyes and nude lips.

On-screen vampires weren’t the only stars crawling the black carpet on last week for the highly long-awaited Hollywood premiere of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2″! In addition to crowds of screaming ‘Twi-hands’, stars of every generation came out to show their own fan support and love of the crazy characters from Forks at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live—now, let’s take a look at what they wore!

Kiernan Shipka: The darling “Mad Men” starlet looked adorable as ever in head-to-toe Miu Miu, which included a flounce skirt little black dress with a sheer yoke and short sleeves. Kiernan added a little pop of color to her sweet look with fuchsia suede pumps with large bows accenting the open toe. She finished off her look with a loosely gathered ‘do and just a touch of make-up.

Jacqueline Emerson: The “Hunger Games” starlet wore head-to-toe Emporio Armani; a single shoulder silk-satin teal mini dress and nude accessories. The color of her dress was very pretty, but I can’t imagine she was worn in the brisk November air—despite the fact that she was in good ‘ol warm California. Jacqueline styled her strawberry red locks in a side gathered ‘do of curls before completing her look with Martin Katz jewelry.
