MY VERDICT:  Amandla joined Willow Shields, her co-star from “The Hunger Games”, at the Kids’ Choice Awards where they took home an award for their movie.  The 13-year-old actress hit the purple carpet looking much more grown up since last year’s event in a playful fit-and-flare stripe “Larson” dress by Opening Ceremony in navy and emerald green.  How cute is this dress?  I really like how the stripes create a 3D effect because of their many directions and the cool structured fold over detail at the neckline.

I would have liked to have seen Amandla rock a shoe that coordinated with the style of her dress, but she kept it safe with black slingback Christian Louboutin pumps before finishing off with a bow-adorned high ponytail. She’s adorable.

WHO: Miranda Cosgrove

MY VERDICT: Miranda pulled shades from her Stella McCartney organza dress when it came to her accessories of choice at the Kids’ Choice Awards this year.  The former “iCarly” actress stepped out on the purple carpet wearing a colorful abstract printed sleeveless lightweight dress from the designer’s Spring 2013 collection in cool tones of blue and green.  I really love the sheer panel that waves through the dress; it coordinated well with Miranda’s loose ombré beachy waves.

With the help of a dash of popping pink on her lips and nails, Miranda completed her KCA look with open toe teal Giuseppe Zanotti pumps and a light blue tube clutch from Jimmy Choo.  I really liked how this was styled as it was a fun balance between youthful and mature. At 19-years-old now, I think that suits Miranda just fine.

WEARING: Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet dress

MY VERDICT: Ariana joined the pack of stylish young ladies rocking Alice + Olivia by hitting the violet and orange Kids’ Choice Awards carpet in the “Kirie” dress. The former “Victorious” actress selected the Spring 2013 design by Stacey Bendet that features a pleated solid bodice in a rich lipstick red shade and a fun popped printed skirt. It was a very cute choice, but I’m a bit bummed that Ariana passed on the bow belt.

She kept her accessories minimal and swept pieces of her long hair back before finishing off with a nude hidden platform pumps. I think a lightweight strappy red sandal, similar to that on the model, would have been a better footwear choice.

MY VERDICT: I simply adore how “Good Luck Charlie” star Bridgit Mendler paired a tee and skirt to the Kids’ Choice Awards, but what I love even more is the style she opted for.  Bridgit rocked the violet carpet wearing a pretty off-white “Opulence Tux” tee and the shimmering matching skirt from the Spring 2013 collection by JOE’s.  These soft linen pieces featured a touch of daytime elegance with all-over beaded embroidery on the skirt that is also featured on the short sleeves of the raglan styled top.  | continue reading..

MY VERDICT:  Fergie showed off her beautiful growing belly on the Kids’ Choice Awards purple carpet.  The Black Eyed Peas front-woman–and soon-to-be new mama–came out to support her husband Josh Duhmael as he hosted the ceremony.  Fergie showed off her curves in a vibrant long-sleeve colorful landscape printed body-con dress by Mary Katrantzou.  Because the KCAs are practically the kick-off of the summer award show season, it’s fun to see the stars break out their most energetic and brightly colored outfits. | continue reading..

MY VERDICT: I’m pretty sure Zendaya gets an obvious red carpet “A” for creativity!  The “Shake It Up” star, and new “Dancing with the Stars” contestant, arrived for the 2013 KCAs rocking a cool mismatched spring ensemble.  The teen started with a colorful Spring 2013 “Lollie” fit-and-flare sleeveless dress from Alice + Olivia that she partnered with a lightweight pale grey pullover.  I totally dig the way these two pieces blended for an effortless retro look due to the embellished collar on the dress that peeked out over the layered top.

Zendaya played homage to the 1950s with funky cat-eyed sunglasses before finishing off with a dark red talon manicure, a hot pink clutch, and sky-high Ruthie Davis platform “Jolie” strappy boots in the dark burgundy Vamp color.  There are a lot of colors and trends going on here that you probably wouldn’t imagine working so well together, but they do.

Well, at least when you’re 16-years-old.

MY VERDICT: Bella used silver as the blank canvas for pops of color for her Kids’ Choice Awards look.  The teen “Shake It Up” star paired a metallic peplum top and mini skirt by Bec & Bridge together before adding in burst of neon by selecting the DANNIJO “Capucine” necklace with lines of orange, hot pink, bright green and yellow Swarovski crystals surrounding the neck.  Bella pulled a shade from her necklace when selecting her footwear and opted for matching neon pink “Devon” pointed toe pumps from Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet. | continue reading..

WHO: Willow Shields

MY VERDICT: I wasn’t surprised to see that “The Hunger Games” starlet Willow Shields stuck by MARC by Marc Jacobs for the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards this year, after all–this is her usual go-to red carpet label. In fact, she wore a MARC skirt last year at the event.  The 12-year-old actress arrived at the show wearing a pretty strapless geometric print dress from the Spring 2013 collection in various shades of red and blue.

The dress was bright and fun; two things that are important when choosing your outfit for the KCAs, but it just felt like such a grown up style to pair with her youthful silver open toe kitten heel slides. Those shoes were better suited for a cocktail party. I think Willow could have improved this by slipping on a chunky pair of dark blue wedge sandals. It would have balanced out better.
