MY VERDICT: After sticking with a little black dress earlier in the day for the jury press conference, Nicole stepped out on the red carpet for the Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony premiere of “The Great Gatsby” wearing a very colorful Christian Dior tea-length gown. The Australian actress selected the strapless two layered embroidered pale pink silk organza bustier evening dress from the Spring 2013 Haute Couture collection.

This was the dress I admired most from the line because of the unique beaded pattern arrangement and the vibrant spring shades—especially the brighter detailing on the bodice and hem as it frames softer tones.

Nicole was obviously inspired by the colors used as she slipped on a bright pair of Dior pointed toe coral pumps and added a darker shade on her lips. An interesting side-tucked ponytail and diamond stud earrings helped her complete the look.

MY VERDICT: Nicole joined her fellow jury members–including Cannes Jury President Steven Spielberg, this morning for the annual jury photocall held to kick off the 66th annual Cannes Film Festival. The “Paperboy” actress kept it simple, yet, glamorous in a black silk knee-length cocktail dress from the Fall 2013 collection by Alexander McQueen, which features a squared neckline with a notched center and full bell sleeves. When this dress was originally presented in white, it definitely needed a belt, but I believe the smooth canvas was better suited for Nicole’s figure as well as with the daytime event. | continue reading..

OMG it’s that time of year again—the 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival kicks off tomorrow! It’s officially time to prepare yourself for gorgeous gowns, and let’s face it, questionable choices. Some of my favorite red carpet dresses have been debuted during the prestigious film festival, so I’m looking forward to seeing which repeat attendees will continue their “WOW” streak and who will end up surprising us all. In the meantime, I’ve compiled a list of dresses I hope to see on the stars who are expected to attend.

I have a bit of a soft spot for this particular wish list as the festival last year was the first event I ever did one for.

WHERE & WHEN: Omega Gala ‘La Nuit Enchantee’ in Austria on March 23, 2013.

MY VERDICT: Nicole looked radiant as she walked the salmon carpet for the Omega Gala “La Nuit Enchantee” in Austria. The “Grace of Monaco” actress sparkled in a Oscar de la Renta nude tulle gown with black bead embroidery, from Mr. de la Renta’s recently debuted Fall 2013 collection. I love the illusion the design gives off, without actually being see-through. Accessorizing with a classic black box clutch and gold jewelry, Nicole simply polished off her look with soft, subtle makeup and perfectly curled strawberry-golden tresses.

WEARING: L’Wren Scott dress, shoes & bag with Fred Leighton jewels.

MY VERDICT: I can’t be the only one who predicted that Nicole would be the star to first wear the black and gold molten sequin tank gown from the new L’Wren Scott Fall 2013 collection.  I think many ‘called it’—either out loud, in their mind–or maybe through a tweet.  It was a given, and it happened.  The “Paper Boy” actress arrived at the Oscars wearing the slinky, sexy gown that literally fit her like a perfect glove.  I’ve always been a fan of the combination of black and gold, in fact, it’s my current nail art—but, colors aside, what really stands out are the fun swirl patterns on the pleated elements of the skirt.

Nicole completed her look with a swept up ‘do, featuring stray cascading curls, and  jewelry from Fred Leighton; gold and black enamel pendant earrings and a gold and diamond chain bracelet.

WHERE & WHEN: “Stoker” Special Screening in London on February 17, 2013.
WEARING: L’Wren Scott

MY VERDICT: Nicole joined her “Stoker” costar Mia Wasikowska at the London screening wearing a brand new dress from L’Wren Scott‘s Fall 2013 collection. The Australian actress selected the sleek long sleeve blue-violet silk crepe dress with an intense gold embroidered high neck. Like the models on the runway, Nicole complimented the shimmering element at the top of her dress by wearing a pair of matching metallic gold pumps. I prefer her footwear of choice to the open toe pumps paired with this design on the London Fashion Week catwalk. As not to distract, Nicole swept her ginger locks up in a loose up ‘do before finishing her look with a gold watch and matching hoop earrings.

WEARING: Vera Wang dress, L’Wren Scott shoes, Roger Vivier clutch & Fred Leighton jewelry.

MY VERDICT: Nicole glittered in gold wearing a floor-length semi-sheer metallic lace Vera Wang dress. The sleek v-neck design comes from the designer’s Spring/Summer 2013 runway collection. The cut was a near-perfect fit for Nicole, but it just doesn’t feel like a Grammys dress to me. It’s going to be hard to top what she wore to the ceremony in 2011. Nicole completed her look with super sleek tresses, Fred Leighton jewelry, a dark manicure and matching L’Wren Scott Spring 2013 sandals.

WEARING: Vivienne Westwood Couture dress, Manolo Blahnik shoes & Fred Leighton jewelry

MY VERDICT: There were so many blue dresses worn on the red carpet last night, and they were all so beautiful!  Nicole, in particular, stood out to me in her striking (and sparkling) Vivienne Westwood Couture navy and black  embroidered Marlene gown with floral appliqués all over.  I love this streamlined silhouette, the mesh yoke and scattered embroidery, and the intense scallop trim slit to show off her classic Manolo Blahnik black strappy “Chaos” sandals.  A super sleek mane and Fred Leighton emerald statement earrings helped the star pull off a flawless look.  She was a clear favorite of mine. | continue reading..

MY VERDICT: It was apparently hard to pry Nicole and fellow Aussie actor Naomi from each other on the scarlet red carpet at the Producers Guild Awards.  The blonde beauties also pulled a “twinsie look” with their matching head-to-toe black outfits, full wavy tresses and neutral makeup palette.

Nicole stuck by her go-to L’Wren Scott for her full-length lace embroidered cap sleeve gown, which looked beautiful on her, while Naomi turned to Victoria Beckham‘s Spring 2013 collection for her look.  The star of “The Impossible” rocked a pencil sheath with mesh panels at the bodice before finishing with the celeb-favorite Rupert Sanderson “Elba” pumps.

I think both ladies pulled off equally complimenting, different, and flattering looks. I wonder if they planned this…

MY VERDICT: A statuesque Nicole brought some drama to the red carpet tonight in a black crepe Alexander McQueen gown, from the Spring 2013 collection, which featured gold bead embroidery at the neck and a lace inset at the waist.  I’ve grown so use to seeing the 45-year-old actress stick with the same select designers, that I wasn’t prepared for this moment.  That being said, I  really liked this dress on her.  Nicole does sleek so well.  Her mixture of black and gold Fred Leighton jewelry was an eclectic group that fit the theme of her look, and while I dig her new short hair length, the style was too elegant for dress with some edge.
