Isla Fisher in Dolce & Gabbana | “The Great Gatsby” World Premiere

WHO: Isla Fisher
WHERE & WHEN: “The Great Gatsby” world premiere on May 1, 2013.
WEARINGDolce & Gabbana dress & shoes, Roger Vivier clutch & Fred Leighton jewelry.

MY VERDICT: I’m sure Isla left on-lookers speechless when she stepped out for the New York City premiere of “The Great Gatsby” in a gorgeous black Dolce & Gabbana silk gown with a crowd of coral and peach embroidered flowers sprinkling from the bodice and long sleeves. I love how the dress suddenly, but beautifully, transforms into a spring-ready floral lace skirt. This may be one of the best dresses the actress has ever worn.

Isla kept focus on the gown by accessorizing with coordinating black pieces; a Roger Vivier satin clutch and simple platform pumps. Small diamond drop earrings, cascading waves gathered to one side, and a punched up pink pout completed her look.

WEARING: Mila- Atelier Verace dress, Christian Louboutin shoes & Katerina Maxine ring.; Michelle- Jason Wu dress, Christian Louboutin shoes; Roger Vivier clutch & Verdura jewelry.

MY VERDICT: After an early day of press, Michelle and Mila reunited with James on the emerald green carpet for the Russian premiere of “Oz: The Great and Powerful” while donned in two beautiful floor-length gowns.  Michelle opted for some Emerald City sparkle and wore a Jason Wu belted black silk short sleeve gown—from the designer’s Pre-Fall 2013 collection, that features an off-over print of glittering gold wavy stripes varying in widths from the neck to the hem.  I love the subtle mix of glamour and edge; it was well balanced with Michelle’s razor-cut pixie and her metallic accented Verdura cuff bracelet. | continue reading..

WEARING: Giambattista Valli dress, Christian Louboutin shoes, Roger Vivier clutch, Jaeger-LeCoultre watch & Neil Lanejewelry.

MY VERDICT: Diane joined her actor boyfriend Joshua Jackson at the Vanity Fair Oscar after party where the duo donned matching black and white outfits. Josh stuck by a classic Berluti tuxedo while the “Host” star rocked an angled patterned sequin-embroidered cocktail dress from the Spring 2013 Haute Couture collection by Giambattista Valli.  The long sleeve design gave the appearance of an attached cape, but from the side, it looks as though a large gust of wind just hit the actress. | continue reading..

MY VERDICT: What a beautiful dress Kate wore!  I had instantly taking a liking to this black strapless tulle tea-length dress from the new Fall 2013 collection by Monique Lhuillier when the designer debuted it during New York Fashion Week earlier this month, so needless to say, I was pretty thrilled to see it as part of Oscar night.

The “Total Recall” actress made a grand arrival at the Vanity Fair bash thanks to the glamorous vintage silhouette that was covered in stunning bursting gold embroidery.  | continue reading..

Naomi Watts in Armani Privé | 2013 Oscars

WHO: Naomi Watts
WHERE & WHEN: 85th Academy Awards on February 24, 2013.
WEARING: Armani Privé dress, Jimmy Choo shoes, Roger Vivier clutch & Neil Lane jewelry.

MY VERDICT: I may have had Naomi pegged for jewel-tone color at the Oscars this year, but the “Impossible” actress was thinking more along the lines of shimmering metals.  Naomi hit the garnet carpet for the ceremony, where she was nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role, wearing a custom-made Armani Privé gown.  The form-fitting asymmetric design was enveloped in layered gunmetal grey sequins, and featured a single cap sleeve, a cutaway element on the opposite side, and a sexy low-dipping open back.

All in all, I thought the dress was cool—but something felt off, like it needed to either be strapless or cap-sleeved entirely. As for Naomi’s hair, she was one of the few stars who really did something with it and I appreciated that.  The loose swept back chignon was stunning, but I believe it would’ve been best with a much more regal gown.  It’s as if she was wearing two different looks.  Soft makeup and Neil Lane drop earrings helped provide the finishing touches.

Zoe Saldana in Alexis Mabille Couture | 2013 Oscars

WHO: Zoe Saldana
WHERE & WHEN: 85th Academy Awards on February 24, 2013.
WEARINGAlexis Mabille Couture dress, Roger Vivier shoes, Salvatore Ferragamo clutch & Neil Lane jewelry.

MY VERDICT: In my opinion, Zoe was one of the best dressed stars at the Academy Awards this year in her Alexis Mabille gown.  This was one of my favorite dresses on the Spring 2013 Haute Couture runway, but I wasn’t expecting to see it on Oscar night.  It’s always nice to be surprised!  I think Zoe brought new life to the silk pale belted gown, which featured petal embroidery along the strapless bust and a split skirt edged in greyscale tiers. It fit her figure beautifully, highlighted her complexion, and took on a whole new level on glamour with a simple side pose.  Look at the way the train perfectly glides! | continue reading..

Charlize Theron in Christian Dior Couture | 2013 Oscars

WHO: Charlize Theron
WHERE & WHEN: 85th Academy Awards on February 24, 2013.
WEARING: Christian Dior Haute Couture gown and white leather clutch, Roger Vivier shoes & Harry Winston jewelry.

MY VERDICT: Charlize shut. it. down. on the Oscar red carpet when she arrived wearing a breathtaking white silk bustier gown from Christian Dior Haute Couture, which featured an embroidered peplum and v-notched detail at the neckline.  Seriously, this dress is ridiculously amazing.  Why has this entire awards season gone by without Jenn Lawrence wearing a Dior dress even remotely like this?  I’m in love with the subtle sexiness and bold glamour.

The statuesque “Snow White and the Huntsman” actress-slash-exquisite beauty was simply flawless as she accessorized with diamond bracelets on both wrists to match the studs in her ears. | continue reading..

WHO: Anne Hathaway
WHERE & WHEN: 85th Academy Awards on February 24, 2013.
WEARING: Prada dress, Giuseppe Zanotti shoes, Roger Vivier clutch, and Tiffany & Co. jewelry.

MY VERDICT: The rumors were at a high level that Anne was going to wear a Valentino Haute Couture gown to the Oscars this year, in fact, even the fashion house thought so.  As it turns out, the “Les Misèrables” actress hit the red carpet wearing a custom made light pink duchesse satin column gown by Prada.  She mentioned that she only knew what she was going to wear three hours prior to the actual ceremony.  This slim floor-length dress included an open back, with double the crisscrossing detail, and a slit in the skirt.  I prefer the slim cut on Anne, but I wasn’t into this look at all.

I think the best word to describe how I felt was “underwhelmed”.

I’m sure there are a lot of mixed reviews out there, but it just seemed like this was her moment for an unforgettable look…and she played it safe.  Anne finished with a diamond necklace, matching bracelets, a swept pixie, and a light pink pout.

WHO: Jennifer Lawrence
WHERE & WHEN: 85th Academy Awards on February 24, 2013.
WEARING: Christian Dior Haute Couture dress, Brian Atwood shoes, Roger Vivier clutch & Chopard jewelry.

MY VERDICT: Jennifer was the epitome of Oscars glam when she hit the red carpet wearing a Christian Dior pale pink and white silk bustier ball gown from the Spring 2013 Haute Couture collection.  I was expecting something a bit more streamlined as she opted for a lot of full-skirted dresses and trains this awards season.  Although I can’t say that I’m thrilled with the overwhelming skirt on Jen, I also can’t deny that she looked beautiful.  In my opinion, this looked better on her than it did on the runway.

The 22-year-old “Silver Linings Playbook” star, a role which earned her a Best Actress nomination, wore her long honey blonde locks up in a chic chignon before adding in the accessories; | continue reading..

Ginnifer Goodwin in Misha Nonoo | 2013 Costume Designers Guild Awards

WHO: Ginnifer Goodwin
WHERE & WHEN: 15th Annual Costume Designers Guild Awards on February 19, 2013.
WEARINGMisha Nonoo dress, Christian Louboutin shoes & Roger Vivier clutch.

MY VERDICT: Ginnifer brightened up the dull grey carpet at the Costume Designers Guild Awards when she stepped out in a lipstick red short sleeve gown by Misha Nonoo.  The “Once Upon a Time” star, who was joined by her co-star and boyfriend Josh Dallas (in a Z Zegna tuxedo), looked beautiful and quite effortless in the full-length Spring 2013 design with striped sheer panels at the bottom.  The see-through detail gave you a peek at her nude Christian Louboutin pumps.  I think a crystal-encrusted shoe would have been a fun choice as Ginny would have added a touch of shimmer with every step.  She completed her look with a delicate gold bangle, her pixie cut brushed to the side and minimal makeup.
