WHO: Rooney Mara
WHERE & WHEN: “Ain’t Them Bodies Saints” 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival Photocall on May 18, 2013.
WEARING: Christian Dior dress, Brian Atwood shoes

MY VERDICT: After enjoying the party aspect of the Cannes Film Festival celebration, it was back to work for Rooney Mara when she attended the photocall for “Aint Them Bodies Saints” with costar Casey Affleck and writer/director David Lowery. The 28-year-old actress used the opportunity to figure out a new way to wear her favorite colors–black and white. Rooney arrived wearing a Christian Dior Fall 2013 pale grey bi-colored silk cape with antic rose silk bustier and navy blue denim wool skirt.

I’m kind of fascinated by the unique asymmetric design of both pieces, but more than that, I really love how it looks on Rooney. | continue reading..

Rooney Mara in Givenchy Couture | MET Gala 2013

WHO: Rooney Mara
WHERE & WHEN: 2013 Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala – PUNK: Chaos to Couture on May 6, 2013.
WEARING: Givenchy Haute Couture dress and shoes, and jewelry from Fred Leighton & Jennifer Meyer.

MY VERDICT: Rooney, co-chair with Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci, set the annual gala in motion when she arrived in this custom-made long sleeve white lace gown. I was really into the open back and punk inspiration of the zippers at the waist line; it comes from Tisci’s Fall-Winter 2010/2011 Haute Couture collection. I know the theme this year is PUNK: Chaos to Couture in honor of the new punk exhibition, and granted this wasn’t in-your-face punk nor is it something different from Rooney—but, I really don’t care because I loved it on her and she doesn’t need to try hard. A center rising ruffled hem gave us a great view of Rooney’s shark tooth white ankle strap sandals. | continue reading..

Rooney Mara in Valentino Couture | “Side Effects” Premiere – 2013 Berlinale International Film Festival

Rooney Mara in Balenciaga | 'Side Effects' Premiere - 2013 Berlinale International Film FestivalPhotos: Zimbio; Style.com; Christian Louboutin
WHO: Rooney Mara
WHERE & WHEN: “Side Effects” premiere at the 63rd Berlinale International Film Festival on February 12, 2013.
WEARING: Valentino Haute Couture dress, Christian Louboutin shoes.

MY VERDICT: It appears as though Adele isn’t the only lady checking out the latest couture collection from Valentino this week!  Rooney turned to the Spring 2013 line for her red carpet look at the Berlinale premiere of her new thriller “Side Effects”.  After rocking a seriously cool tomboy ensemble for the photocall earlier in the day, the 27-year-old got ladylike in a floral vine embroidered black dress.  I can’t say that I’m into the puffed short sleeves, but I like the square neckline, and how the handkerchief styled asymmetric skirt is so different from what we’ve been seeing lately.

When a certain silhouette gets worn ad nauseam, it’s nice to see something fresh—and this worked for Rooney.  She completed her look with luminous makeup, a twisted ‘top-knot’, and a pair of shiny black Christian Louboutin “Batignolles” point toe pumps. | continue reading..

Rooney Mara in Balenciaga | “Side Effects” Photocall – 2013 Berlinale International Film Festival

WHO: Rooney Mara
WHERE & WHEN: “Side Effects” photocall at the 63rd Berlinale International Film Festival on February 12, 2013.
WEARING: Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquière ensemble, Christian Louboutin shoes.

MY VERDICT: Rooney clearly showed us how to take a look directly from the runway–err, or ‘lookbook’ in this case–when she donned a full ensemble from the last Resort 2013 collection Nicolas Ghesquière did as the Creative Director for Balenciaga.

The “Side Effects” star appeared as though she just stepped off the catwalk at Fashion Week when she attended the photocall for the movie at the Berlinale Film Festival.  Rooney wore a cuffed white tee tucked into high-waist pinstripe trousers with a cropped navy crossover crepe top layered over it.  I’m a total fan of this on her!  Rooney has that cool, tomboy personal style that makes it feel so natural.  I also believe she’s doing the tightly pulled center-part ‘do, smoky eye, and dark garnet lip better than the model.  | continue reading..

Rooney Mara in Alexander McQueen | “Side Effects” NY Premiere

WHO: Rooney Mara
WHERE & WHEN: “Side Effects” New York premiere on January 31, 2013.
WEARING: Alexander McQueen dress, Nicholas Kirkwood shoes

MY VERDICT: Rooney rocked a brand new look from Alexander McQueen when she attended the New York premiere of her new movie “Side Effects”.  The 27-year-old actress selected the long sleeve layered white dress from the Pre-Fall 2013 collection with all-over lace embroidered panels, including heavier 3D detail at the shoulders.  I see that Rooney wanted to keep the look soft, and therefore she opted out of the black belt and matching shoes, however I do wish she had worn a much more interesting shoe than her neutral Nicholas Kirkwood pumps.  It’s not so much the nude color that’s boring me as it is the open toe slingback. | continue reading..

Rooney Mara really loves her lace Givenchy gowns!

The Academy Award-nominated actress attended two major events recently in white lace gowns; the London premiere of “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” and of course the 2012 Oscars — and she rocked them both times. Rooney came back for round three and donned a sexy lace black design last night for the 2012 MET Gala.

Rooney arrived as a guest of head-designer Riccardo Tisci in a gothic single-shoulder, short sleeve lace gown with leather banding on the sleeve and waist.

I loved this on her. | continue reading..

Reese Witherspoon got dolled up in the sunny yellow Louis Vuitton dress last night for the red carpet premiere of her new film “This Means War” at the Cinepolis Lagoon in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The 35-year-old actress selected this ultra-popular dress, from the Pre-Fall 2012 collection, that has previously been seen in green on Rooney Mara and on Dianna Agron, who wore a black version. You would think there weren’t any other styles! | continue reading..

Dianna Agron, who attended the Fall 2012 presentation in the morning wearing a bright Pre-Fall 2012 look, selected something a bit darker for the ‘Louis Vuitton – Marc Jacobs: The Exhibition’ opening soirèe last night in Paris.

The 25-year-old “Glee” star rocked another Pre-Fall look; a ‘popped skirt’ black dress (previously seen in green on Rooney Mara) with black tights, a beaded clutch and a stunning emerald green stone statement necklace. | continue reading..
