WHO: Brittany Snow
WHERE & WHEN: 2013 Film Independent Spirit Awards on February 23, 2013.
WEARING: Naeem Khan dress & Jimmy Choo shoes

MY VERDICT: Brittany carried herself with subtle elegance as she arrived on the magenta carpet for the Indie Spirit Awards wearing a pretty pink and nude, lace-embroidered, silk-chiffon short sleeve dress by Naeem Khan. There was a bit of a casualness that exuded from her dressed up look as the short length of Brittany’s Spring 2013 design appeared comfortable and breezy for the Santa Monica Beach weather, but was also semi-formal appropriate for the ceremony.

With her short hair swept and pinned up, the “Pitch Perfect” star completed her look with complimenting makeup, a shimmering pale silver clutch, and a pair of nude “Lance” strappy sandals by Jimmy Choo that matched her dress. | continue reading..

Katie Aselton in Wes Gordon | 2013 Film Independent Spirit Awards

WHO: Katie Aselton
WHERE & WHEN: 2013 Film Independent Spirit Awards on February 23, 2013.
WEARING: Wes Gordon dress, Rupert Sanderson shoes

MY VERDICT: Katie was one of my favorite dressed stars at the Indie Spirit Awards.  The “Black Rock” actress wore a Wes Gordon Chantilly lace and silk tulle embroidered dress from the designer’s Fall 2012 collection.  I love the dark, almost dangerous, feel to the feminine floral lace pattern along with the loose fit with drop-waist layering. It just seemed so effortless and comfortable, and I dig the way Katie accessorized with pewter strappy t-strap “Teoni” sandals by Rupert Sanderson to lighten the dark tone while simultaneously showing off her midnight manicure.  She completed her look with a high bun and smoky eyes. | continue reading..

Ellen Page in 10 Crosby Derek Lam & Emporio Armani | 2013 Film Independent Spirit Awards

WHO: Ellen Page
WHERE & WHEN: 2013 Film Independent Spirit Awards on February 23, 2013.
WEARING: 10 Crosby by Derek Lam top, Emporio Armani trousers & Repetto shoes.

MY VERDICT: Man, Ellen looked so effortlessly cool on the pink carpet for the Indie Spirit Awards. The “Touchy Feely” actress wore a 10 Crosby by Derek Lam colorblock blouse in navy and black with white detail at the neck and back tail, which she paired with Emporio Armani black trousers.  Not only do I dig this androgynous style on her, but I actually wanted to grab that top for myself before it sold out. It’s so unique and versatile.  Ellen wore her long hair out in swept waves for a feminine touch before completing her look with wedged black leather “Orson” oxfords by Repetto. I loved it from head-to-toe. | continue reading..

Zoe Saldana in Dolce & Gabbana | 2013 Film Independent Spirit Awards

WHO: Zoe Saldana
WHERE & WHEN: 2013 Film Independent Spirit Awards on February 23, 2013.
WEARING: Dolce & Gabbana dress, Casadei shoes.

MY VERDICT: You couldn’t possibly miss Zoe on the pink carpet in her full forest green and white ensemble!  The “Nina” actress wore a striped brocade knee-length dress from the Spring 2013 collection by Dolce & Gabbana that completely matched her white Casadei pumps with green piped contrast.  To be honest, I think Zoe pulls the dress off—it actually works well on her, I’m just not into heavy stripes, and I’ve always had a hot-and-cold relationship with white shoes.  I don’t hate the look, but I don’t love it.  It is what it is.  That being said, Zoe’s hair and makeup were flawless. | continue reading..

WHO: Salma Hayek
WHERE & WHEN: 2013 Film Independent Spirit Awards on February 23, 2013.
WEARING: Alexander McQueen

MY VERDICT: Salma rocked some cool head-to-toe Alexander McQueen this year at the Indie Spirit Awards! The beautiful actress stepped out on the breezy pink carpet on Santa Monica Beach wearing a textured fit-and-flare ivory long sleeve dress from the Pre-Autumn/Winter 2013 collection with a black leather belt to match her “DeManta” folded oversize clutch and gold studded open toe pumps. I can’t get over what a flattering fit this dress was on Salma, it’s like it was made to accentuate her curves;  it fell just above her knee, which I’ve always found to be the most flattering length on most women.

Salma finished off her look with long curls and delicate gold earrings. | continue reading..

Quvenzhané Wallis in Stella McCartney Kids | 2013 Film Independent Spirit Awards

WHO: Quvenzhané Wallis
WHERE & WHEN: 2013 Film Independent Spirit Awards on February 23, 2013.
WEARING: Stella McCartney Kids

MY VERDICT: Oh, I can’t take the cuteness here!  Quvenzhané looked adorably chic on the pink carpet for the Indie Spirit Awards when she arrived wearing a lovely little dress from Stella McCartney Kids.  This pale embroidered tulle tea-length gown was custom made for 9-year-old star of “Beasts of the Southern Wild”, and beautifully made it was. I really hope to see something like this on Quvenzhané for Oscar night; I remember her saying in an interview that she wouldn’t be wearing a long gown in fear of tripping. I think this elegant little number is the perfect length for her.  Quvenzhané wore her hair in shiny curls accented by a jeweled headband, before completing the look with her signature sequined puppy purse. She has one in every color, but this golden version matched her cap toe flats.

Rashida Jones in Stella McCartney | 2013 Film Independent Spirit Awards

WHO: Rashida Jones
WHERE & WHEN: 2013 Film Independent Spirit Awards on February 23, 2013.
WEARING: Stella McCartney skirt and top, Nicholas Kirkwood shoes & Wilfredo Rosado jewelry.

MY VERDICT: Rashida did a great job straddling the line between the winter blues and spring florals when she attended the Indie Spirits, but perhaps that’s because she turned to the new Stella McCartney Pre-Fall 2013 collection for their outfit.  The “Parks and Recreation” star wore a short sleeve navy blouse and matching a-line skirt with scattered big and bold floral detail in shimmering turquoise and leaf green. I really love the colors and the pattern, but I’m not thrilled with the oversize sleeves.

That being said, I like that Rashida pulled the skirt up higher for more of a flattering fit at the leg. | continue reading..

Nina Dobrev in Michael Kors | 2013 Film Independent Spirit Awards

Nina Dobrev in Michael Kors | 2013 Film Independent Spirit AwardsPhotos: Zimbio; Style.com
WHO: Nina Dobrev
WHERE & WHEN: 2013 Film Independent Spirit Awards on February 23, 2013.
WEARING: Michael Kors outfit, Jimmy Choo shoes & H.Stern jewelry.

MY VERDICT: After an electric appearance at the SAG Awards, and two more fabulous moments during the Super Bowl recently, Nina hit another high note at the Indie Spirit Awards this year as she supported her film “The Perks of Being a Wallflower”.  The 24-year-old actress showed off her mile-long legs in a super sassy golden Spring 2013 outfit by Michael Kors.  Nina wore an optic white shell top with gold embroidery and matching optic white shorts that she completed with a gold mirrored belt.  I can’t decide if I like the belt at the narrow part of her waist or up higher as it is on the model, but I certainly know that I absolutely love this look for her.  She polished off the spring-ready ensemble with a high ponytail, smoky bronze eyes, and a pair of strappy gold Jimmy Choo sandals.  I’m still digging those new bangs!  A++

Aubrey Plaza in Valentino | 2013 Film Independent Spirit Awards

WHO: Aubrey Plaza
WHERE & WHEN: 2013 Film Independent Spirit Awards on February 23, 2013.
WEARING: Valentino dress, Rupert Sanderson shoes

MY VERDICT: Aubrey looked beautifully ready for the spring in her pretty Valentino dress at the Indie Spirit Awards!  The “Parks and Recreation” star arrived on the pink carpet wearing an adorable lightweight ivory dress with colorful sequin flower embroidery all over. I’m such a fan of the vibrant colors used, and how Aubrey complimented them by pulling from the coral-red detail when selecting her footwear. She wore a matching pair of patent “Elba” pumps by Rupert Sanderson, and then finished off the look by twisting her short brunette tresses up and accessorizing with a beautiful multicolored diamond statement ring.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead in Emilio Pucci | 2013 Film Independent Spirit Awards

Mary Elizabeth Winstead in Emilio Pucci | 2013 Film Independent Spirit AwardsPhotos: Zimbio; Grey Mer
WHO: Mary Elizabeth Winstead
WHERE & WHEN: 2013 Film Independent Spirit Awards on February 23, 2013.
WEARING: Emilio Pucci dress, Grey Mer shoes

MY VERDICT: Mary Elizabeth played with cutouts on the pink carpet when she attended the Indie Spirit Awards wearing a orange speckled blue long sleeve dress by Emilio Pucci.  I appreciate that she was going for a bit of subtle sexiness, but I just don’t believe this was her dress.  First of all, the shoulder splits are too distracting, but the dress itself wasn’t a flattering fit for her as you can tell by the pulling at her waist and the way the flaps of the open back are folding over.  It’s cool that M.E. matched the pattern with her orange clutch, and while I like the actual shoe– don’t think the chunky beige Grey Mer wedge sandals went with this dress.  Was this supposed to be dressy or casual? | continue reading..
