R&B singer Monica Brown took part in a tribute to the late — and absolutely great — Whitney Houston last night during the 2012 BET Awards, which were held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

It wasn’t just Monica’s vocals that demanded attention, but her dress as well. A dress that was design by another talent that is sadly no longer with us.

Monica wore a Spring 2010 reptile printed mullet gown with puff shoulders and a deep v neckline by Alexander McQueen. This was one of McQueen’s final collections before he died in 2010 and Sarah Burton took over as Creative Director. | continue reading..

Wow, Selita Ebanks was an show stopper when she hit the red carpet last night for the 2012 BET Awards in her metallic dress!

The 29-year-old model arrived at the Shrine Auditorium for the ceremony wearing a Falguni & Shane Peacock sequin-embroidered bodysuit, which featured strong black cap sleeve appliqués and an attached full-length sheer black skirt.

This design comes from the Spring 2012 collection.

It seems Alicia Keys skipped the BET Awards this year — but her husband Swizz Beatz arrived on the red carpet in an outfit that could definitely not be missed!

The music producer/rapper wore a mostly all-white look from Givenchy! Swizz was clad in a comfy white crewneck lightweight sweater with zipped elements at the shoulder, which he paired with tropical trousers, from the Spring 2012 collection.

These cool painted pants were filled with gorgeous prints of birds and leaves in shades of lime, lilac and electric purple.

I like it when men really take a risk and opt for an outfit that’s stylish when they’re not in the classic suit. Swizz gave us something chic yet relaxed to appreciate last night. He kept everything clean and white outside of the pants.

It was a blank canvas with the perfect opportunity for these bold pants!

He finished off his look with clean, unlaced white trainers, gold jewelry, a black watch and rose-tinted sunglasses.

Kyla Pratt looked pretty in her color-block dress when she stepped out for the 2012 BET Awards last night, which were held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

The 25-year-old “Let’s Stay Together” actress wore an off-white and coral patterned, asymmetric halterneck dress with gold trim from the Spring 2012 BCBG Max Azria collection.

I love the colors and the length of the dress on Kyla; the bright summer hues really popped against her rich caramel complexion.

Kyla wore her super long tresses out in a natural wave and gathered to the side, which showed off her large crystal encrusted hoop earrings. She finished off with a double wrap pearl bracelet, a gold metallic evening clutch and matching sandals.

Because of the unusual shape of the dress, it translates into one of those outfits you either love or hate, so…

Taraji P. Henson arrived at the Shrine Auditorium last night for the 2012 BET Awards and wore a bright mini dress.

The 41-year-old “Person Of Interest” actress slipped on a turquoise Zamen Jamal dress with a cutout neckline that was embroidered with metallic gold honeycomb netting, which continued at the bottom of the design.

I like the colors on her — it reminded me of Princess Jasmine from Disney’s “Aladdin” — but this wasn’t her most flattering cut. Sure, it showed off her great legs, but it was too tight in the bust area and therefore it caused some ‘smooshing’. | continue reading..

Kerry Washington hit the red carpet tonight at the Shrine Auditorium for the 2012 BET Awards, where she presented with her “Django Unchained” costar Jamie Foxx.

The 35-year-old actress arrived in a beige strapless bustier top and belt from the Resort 2013 collection by Altuzarra; the belt featured a bold ornate gold buckle. Kerry paired the stretch top with a black crepe J. Mendel skirt with a flounce hem.

Naturally, I would have preferred that she opt for a full summer look by wearing a brighter skirt, but she accessorized it really well with gold and black elements. | continue reading..

Beyoncé attended the 2012 BET Awards tonight, held at the Shrine Auditorium, with her hubs Jay-Z and her sis Solange Knowles. She was seated with Kanye West and his new girlfriend Kim Kardashian, which obviously sparked lots of Twitter chatter.

The 30-year-old singer took to the stage to accept the award for Best Female R&B Artist and wowed in a chartreuse satin asymmetric gown, from the Stéphane Rolland Spring 2012 haute couture collection, which featured a wide metallic multilevel belt and a sexy, super high thigh slit.
