MY VERDICT: Taylor made quite the sparkling arrival on the blue carpet for the Billboard Music Awards in a gorgeous Zuhair Murad long sleeve beaded mini dress. The Pre-Fall 2013 design includes a sexy sheer paneled back to match the little razor sharp insets all over the shattered pattern.

I certainly wouldn’t say this is something new from the “22″ singer. In fact, she pretty much wore this same concept at the American Music Awards last fall. But, having said that, she still looks great as this style generally works for her. MY VERDICT: I don’t know if it’s a good thing or a sad thing that Country/Pop star Taylor Swift was able to execute punk better than most at the MET ball this year. The “22″ singer arrived as a guest of designer Gilles Mendel wearing a custom J. Mendel black silk crepe gown with lace inserts, a chiffon sunburst pleated back and a sparkling silver-gold embroidered crystal neckline.

Taylor played up the ‘Chaos to Couture’ vibe that was the theme of the evening. Granted she didn’t break out garbage bag leather and a faux hawk, but she certainly hit a higher note than most. The embroidery along the neck reminded me somewhat of Kate Hudson’s dress at the Golden Globe Awards back in January, but my favorite part of the dress were the daring lace panels. | continue reading..

WHERE & WHEN: The BRIT Awards 2013 on February 20, 2013.
WEARING: Elie Saab dress, Giuseppe Zanotti shoes & Neil Lane jewelry.

MY VERDICT: Taylor and Jessie J were matching at the BRIT Awards this year as both opted for black gowns with gold belts; while the English singer turned to a dramatic plunging neck, the “22″ songstress gave us a little leg with strategically placed sheer panels at the maxi skirt of her Elie Saab Pre-Fall 2013 design.  Sheer insets made a reappearance at the shoulders of Taylor’s sleeveless bodice.  Granted, I wish the upper part of the dress fit Tay a little more snug—but, it should go without saying that I loved this. This dress is so unique, and I’m glad that it was worn for a music celebration as it exudes such a cool vibe.

She added a little bronze on her cheeks and lips to compliment all of the metallic elements of the outfit before completing her look with sultry smoky eyes, long lightly waved tresses (still loving those bangs!), and a badass pair of Giuseppe Zanotti black sandals with gold snake detail. | continue reading..

MY VERDICT: Taylor was one of my favorites this year in her ivory goddess gown by J. Mendel with metallic sequin-embellished straps at the plunging neckline and open back.  I was really hoping she’d wear color (maybe red?) considering we often see the singer in cream dresses, but I just can’t deny how hot this design is.  It was originally seen during the finale of the Spring 2013 runway presentation, but without the harness detail the center of the neck.  I can’t decided which version I prefer.

I liked the braided headband woven into her chignon, but for another red carpet moment.  This hairstyle was too sweet, too themed, and too safe for the Grammy Awards.  | continue reading..

The 2013 Grammy Awards–aka, the BIGGEST night in music–will soon be underway, and with that major red carpet comes a wish list of what I’d like to see some of your favorite stars of song wearing.  This is the first time I’ve created a list for this particular award show, and I have to say, I was pretty excited for it.  With some music-centered ceremonies, there are a lot of super short party dresses, but I feel like Grammy night leaves more room for glamorous gowns.  Think of it as the Oscars for music.

Maybe some of the ladies will wear something similar or exact to what I envision, or maybe they won’t. MY VERDICT: Dang, Taylor keeps getting better and better with her red carpet style!  The 23-year-old singer posed on the blue carpet tonight in Madrid where she donned a short and super sassy ice linear crystal encrusted long sleeve Kaufmanfranco shift dress, from the Spring 2013 collection—which featured a daring rectangle cut plunging illusion neckline.  As if that wasn’t surprising enough for Miss Swift’s evolving look, she paired it with super high platform “Dufoura” sandals by Christian Louboutin with sheer and metallic straps. Whoa, hello.  Taylor could have ramped up the sex-appeal with a sharp ponytail, but I like that she softened things up with loose curls and dazzling diamonds (Ofira earrings, Lorraine Schwartz ring). | continue reading..

WHERE & WHEN: 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards, held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills on January 13, 2013.

MY VERDICT: Remember when I said that Taylor Swift might want to relax and just enjoy the evening without feeling pressure about what she wore, you know, since the Golden Globes weren’t her usual scene?  There was nothing laid back about her dramatic Donna Karan Atelier gown!  The “Safe & Sound” singer looked very grown up in a custom-made modern dark plum taffeta gown with panels in mesh ombré—from nude to dark plum—that contour the body and travel into an intense mermaid train. This reminds me of something I would have seen Gwyneth Paltrow wear during her “Great Expectations” days.

I wonder if that’s a coincidence.

Additionally, this is one of my favorite dark colors for gowns, and I like that Taylor didn’t wear a color we’re use to to seeing on her; red, white or gold.  She wore her long hair up in a chignon to show off the sexy low-cut back, and while I wasn’t really into the serious hairstyle, I love that she topped it all off with gorgeous matching jewelry from Lorraine Schwartz.

In less than 24hrs some of the biggest stars in television and film will walk the red carpet for the 70th Annual Golden Globes Awards in Hollywood, but what will they be wearing?  In comes The Fashion Court: Wish List, with a selection of pretty gowns that I could picture on several of the stars who will be attending. I obviously couldn’t ‘dress’ all of the nominees and presenters, or else this post would take you over an hour to read, but you’ll find eighteen of your favorites below.

Now, I know how these shows work; I imagine a good 50% of the stars will be in custom made dresses, especially some of the stars included in this list. That doesn’t mean I can’t have my fun, of course.

The red carpet rolls out tonight for the annual People’s Choice Awards where your favorite stars take home awards voted on by you! While I may not get a vote in how everyone is dressed, that doesn’t mean I don’t have an opinion on what I’d like to see—in comes my annual The Fashion Court: Wish List.  I’ve selected three different looks for ten ladies who are scheduled to attend tonight’s ceremony.  None of them are predictions, but some of my picks have come true in the past so you never know.
