MY VERDICT: I’ve never seen Cher so dressed up!  The “Want U Back” singer was looking more glam than usual when she slipped into a black Georges Chakra Fall 2012 couture cocktail dress for the Clive Davis pre-Grammy party.  Despite the glitz factor, Cher’s short dress, with twisted ribbons and sequin bursts at the sides, was still pretty edgy, and suited her go-to funky style.  I have to say that it was kind of refreshing to see her opt for sheer sleeves and a longer hem rather than something short and strapless.  The sheer detail took the focus off her many arm tattoos, but didn’t cover.  Cher finished her look with Veronica Lake-inspired sculpted waves, smoky eyes, a dark brick lip color and delicate open toe pumps.

MY VERDICT: How stunning was Katy last night as she attended the Clive Davis party?  The 28-year-old singer looked beautiful in a sparkling pearl embellished long sleeve gown by Rafael Cennamo.  The dress was literally dripping pearls and crystal beading!  I don’t often see Katy in such a light color, but the cream-colored dress looked lovely against her warm complexion and black sculpted tresses.  It was such an ethereal moment for her.  What I really love about this dress is the fact that the pearls aren’t heavy throughout; they fall in a gradient effect with the larger details starting at the boatneck before fading below the waist. | continue reading..

MY VERDICT: Miley brought some edge to the red carpet at the Clive Davis pre-Grammy party with a black sheer halter gown. The 20-year-old singer spiked up her famous platinum blonde pixie haircut to balance with the cool vibe of her Emilio Pucci dress.  The funky design comes from the Spring 2013 collection, and features a gold embroidered dragon pattern on a mini dress with a full-length see-through overlay that put her Versace leather boots on display.  I’m not a fan of thigh high boots on the red carpet;  furthermore, I don’t usually like them with a high heel.  That being said- I feel like they brought a rock ‘n’ roll flair, and considering Miley has been into that look lately, I understand the choice.

The upside is that it doesn’t show off as much leg, and I’ve been growing tired of that too-sheer trend lately. This wouldn’t work for many, but it did for Miley.  She completed her look with smoky eyes and stacked black diamond bangles.

MY VERDICT: Jordin hit Clive Davis’ annual pre-Grammys bash in a sexy ruched silk teal Roberto Cavalli dress with a high slit in the front and a black sequin trim lace panel inset framing the deep v-neckline.  Jennifer Garner wore this to a premiere of “Argo” late last year, but I have to go #TeamJordin on this one.  I’m such a fan of her in this color!  I think the rich blue-green really flatters Jordin’s complexion and raven hair; it’s a dark color that actually brightens up on her.  A low twisted chignon hairstyle let the lace detail take center stage, while the opening in the skirt allowed for Jordin to show off her black strappy Giuseppe Zanotti sandals.  She finished with smoky eyes, onyx drop earrings and a black crystal-encrusted Alexander McQueen Union Jack minaudière. | continue reading..

I’m just joking.

But really, she’s just shy of her fortieth birthday and she’s redefining the stereotype that your looks and body won’t be as good as they were in your twenties. She looks absolutely in incredible — in fact she looks younger that some of the twenty something’s in Hollywood. The “Gossip Girl” actress selected a plunging neck sleeveless gown with coral flower prints amongst shades of black, green, nude and grey from the Fall/Winter 2011 collection by Pamella Roland. Kelly Rowland may have gone for an ethereal look on Sunday night for the 54th Annual GRAMMY Awards, but the night before it was all about the glitz and glamour when she attended the Clive Davis’ annual Pre-Grammy fête that honored Richard Branson, chairman of Virgin Group, in a dazzling long-sleeved couture gown by Badgley Mischka.

The 28-year-old Country singer displayed her curves in a sexy long-sleeve black beaded lace dress from the Resort 2012 collection by PAVONI with a crew-neck and raw-edge hem.

The mood of the Clive Davis and the Recording Academy’s 2012 Pre-GRAMMY gala and salute to industry icons honoring Richard Branson fête totally changed with the horrible news of Whitney Houston passing away earlier today. Artists and friends spoke of Houston’s talent and her friendship at the event, and among the attendees was a fellow fan — Britney Spears.

The 30-year-old singer arrived wearing a black bead-embellished v-neck bandage dress from Hervé Léger by Max Azria.

There’s no doubt about it that Britney looks significantly better than she did a few years ago, but I would really like to see her wearing another style of dress.  | continue reading..
