I rarely meet a menswear-inspired look that I don’t love, but Freida Pinto tried to test me Friday night when she attended the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of her new movie “Trishna” in New York City.

This movie needs to come out already! She’s been promoting it at film festivals since the end of last summer.

Freida opted for a gorgeous bold raspberry stretch flannel single breasted suit from the Pre-Fall 2012 collection by Gucci with a black and gold butterfly pin appliqué on the left lapel. Freida left the blazer open to show off her black silk chiffon blouse and matching leather belt.

Freida Pinto was among the stars at the Cosmopolitan Fun Fearless Men And Women Of 2012 Awards in New York City last night — and she arrived rocking a gorgeous cocktail dress from YSL Edition Soir.

The “Trishna” actress stepped out at the Mandarin Oriental Ballroom in a black and violet combo knee-length dress with beautiful beaded appliques on the bodice. I love the effect of the skirt to see the black sheer detail beneath it.

I love the colors, details and cut of this cocktail dress — but I wish she had opted for a different pair of pumps. The satin “Tribtoo” pumps just made her feel look clunky — unless you saw them from the side. Considering she doesn’t walk down the carpet sideways — a sandal was in order.

She completed her look with a bronze make-up palette and a smooth twisted up-do finished with a satin headband.

Freida is also wearing jewelry from Lorraine Schwartz.

There were several great minds thinking alike last night at the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards as I saw many ladies rocking super-fabulous, yet totally different, custom dresses by the same designer!

Two stellar ladies in Prada were Freida Pinto and Zooey Deschanel.

“New Girl” actress Zooey hit the red carpet in a black  silk dress with an open back; the top was enriched with gorgeous black and emerald green glass pearls. I loved the bright vibrant shades and the contrast against the black skirt.  | continue reading..

Freida Pinto nixed a gown for the premiere of “Trishna” tonight at the BFI London Film Festival in favor of a black jumpsuit from Ralph Lauren‘s Fall/Winter 2011 collection.

While I’m totally on board with the accessories, including the two-tone platform sandals and bag from the collection, I’m not a fan of this jumpsuit on Freida. The dangerous plunging neckline is too sharp on her while the rest of it just looks like shimmering sequined pajamas.

I wish she had worn the earrings from the collection. Or any earrings for that matter.

On her wrist is a beautiful Chopard platinum cuff encrusted with 151 fancy cut diamonds. | continue reading..

Today Freida Pinto promoted her film “Trishna” during a press conference and photocall held during the 55th BFI London Film Festival wearing a light peach Louis Vuitton silk double-breasted pocket sleeveless dress with shimmer satin paneling.

I’m speechless. Now, I’m a firm believer in dressing for yourself and if you love it and feel confident wearing it — despite what critics say — go for it.

With that being said, I can’t imagine how Freida put on this dress and said to herself “this looks great, now I’m going to pair it with shoes that don’t match it.”

Alone the pieces are great, but they’re not a match. There’s something very casual about her Manolo Blahnik weaving thick multi-strap sandals and wearing them to compliment a cocktail dress. Gold thin strappy sandals or even a nude pump would have been more complimentary. Furthermore, the dress is bunching all over the place so it doesn’t look like it even fits her.

There was really nothing done with her hair, but her make-up is good.

It’s not a film festival without a Valentino dress.

Frieda Pinto was pretty in pale pink at the TIFF premiere of “Trishna” wearing this sequin sheer halter dress from the resort 2012 collection. I love the color against her bronzed skin and the fact that she put her hair up to not distract from the shape of the dress. Unfortunately her slip was a few inches too short.

Freida accessorized with a gold clutch, but I think a pale rose shade would have been pretty. Her dazzling Jimmy Choo‘s are amazing, although they don’t seem to go with the dress. Maybe it’s just the photo, but I think a strappy un-embellished sandal would have been less distracting. The sequins almost appear like polka dots at first glance. Oh wow…imagine if they were.

Freida’s make-up was done in all rosy pink shades just like the dress. Smart make-up artist.
