Miley Cyrus in Valentino | 2013 Maxim Hot 100 Party

Miley Cyrus in Valentino | 2013 Maxim Hot 100 PartyPhotos: Zimbio; Neiman Marcus; My Theresa
WHO: Miley Cyrus
WHERE & WHEN: MAXIM Hot 100 Party on May 15, 2013.
WEARING: Valentino jumpsuit, Saint Laurent shoes

MY VERDICT: Miley rocked the green turf carpet last night when she celebrated her #1 spot at MAXIM’s Hot 100 party in Hollywood. The 20-year-old singer kept it cool–and “hot”, in a strapless black slouchy Valentino jumpsuit. This techno couture one piece, which features a white contrast panel at the top that connects into a statement bow appliqué is the back, has become very popular with celebrities–including fans Gwyneth Paltrow and Lena Dunham.

All of this jumpsuit love lately makes me so happy!

Because of the longer length, I don’t think Miley should have worn ankle strap shoes as it allows for the pant to bunch at the bottom. A fun studded pump would have streamlined this more without lacking edge. | continue reading..

Taissa Farmiga in Valentino | “The Bling Ring” Premiere – 2013 Cannes Film Festival

Taissa Farmiga in Valentino | 'The Bling Ring' Premiere - 2013 Cannes Film FestivalPhotos: Zimbio; Style.com
WHO: Taissa Farmiga
WHERE & WHEN: “The Bling Ring” 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival Premiere on May 16, 2013.
WEARING: Valentino dress, Chopard jewelry

MY VERDICT: Taissa Farmiga kept it sweet in a simple belted white dress at “The Bling Ring” photocall held earlier today, but the 18-year-old added a bit of maturity to her style when she stepped out on the red carpet with her cast for the Cannes Film Festival premiere wearing a beautiful Valentino collared gown.

I didn’t really gravitate towards liking the recent bib designed dresses featured in the latest collections from the fashion house, but I did admire this Fall 2013 design. The full-length sleeveless black dress features matching beaded net detailing over the skirt as well as panels at the shoulders that sit above leather inserts and frame a beautiful white lace embroidered panel. Although it had a touch of vintage Victorian elegance, it was still pretty current and well-suited for a young actress like Taissa.

Side gathered tresses and delicate Chopard pear-shaped white gold diamond drop earrings helped complete Taissa’s look.

Gwyneth Paltrow in Valentino | MET Gala 2013

WHO: Gwyneth Paltrow
WHERE & WHEN: 2013 Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala – PUNK: Chaos to Couture on May 6, 2013.
WEARING: Valentino dress and clutch, Wilfredo Rosado jewelry

MY VERDICT: Like Kristen Stewart, you shouldn’t be surprised that Gwyneth did exactly what people didn’t expect. Even I’m guilty of thinking she would have wanted to stick in theme a little bit more, and that’s why I opted for tougher-yet-sexy black dresses on my Wish List. The “Iron Man 3″ actress turned heads when she arrived at the annual gala celebrating PUNK: Chaos to Couture wearing a shocking pink long sleeve custom-made Valentino ball gown with a cool illusion panel at the yoke.

Anne Hathaway in Vintage Valentino | MET Gala 2013

Anne Hathaway in Valentino | MET Gala 2013Photos: Zimbio
WHO: Anne Hathaway
WHERE & WHEN: 2013 Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala on May 6, 2013.
WEARING: Valentino Haute Couture dress and clutch

MY VERDICT: Anne was, without a doubt, a clear red carpet winner for me at the MET Gala this year. After a completely less than stellar appearance at the Oscars earlier this year, the “Les Misèrables” actress more than made up for it in a sick vintage Valentino Garavani gown from the Fall 1994 Haute Couture collection. I loved the punk influence of her brushed sequin sheer black gown with dangerous see-through panels at both sides and feather embroidered wrists.

This embodied “chaos to couture”, and on top of that–Oh. My. HAIR. | continue reading..

Lily Collins in Michael Kors & Valentino | WonderCon Anaheim 2013 – Day 2: “The Mortal Instruments”

WHO: Lily Collins
WHERE & WHEN: WonderCon Anaheim 2013 – Day 2: “The Mortal Instruments” Panel on March 30, 2013
WEARING: Michael Kors jacket, Valentino top, Casadei shoes, and jewelry from Le Vian & Michael M.

MY VERDICT: Despite the warmer season quickly approaching, I can’t help but love the head-to-toe black ensemble that Lily Collins rock at WonderCon this year.  The 23-year-old, who was in attendance to promote her upcoming movie “The Mortal Instruments” at a cast panel, rocked a black sheer Valentino blouse with a white ponytail collar and matching cuffs, from the Spring 2013 collection.  I can’t be the only one getting Wednesday Addams-vibes!  | continue reading..

Jennifer Aniston in Valentino Couture | 2013 Oscars

WHO: Jennifer Aniston
WHERE & WHEN: 85th Academy Awards on February 24, 2013.
WEARING: Valentino Haute Couture

MY VERDICT: Jennifer gave her black dresses the night off and turned to lipstick red for the Academy Awards this year.  The 44-year-old actress arrived for the ceremony wearing a strapless full ball gown from the Valentino Spring 2013 Haute Couture collection.  I adore the simple elegance of the dress, which is the very reason I had included it on my Oscar Wish List.  Although I was a big fan of Jen’s diamond gems and matching red minaudière, the lack of doing absolutely anything with her hair kind of bummed me out. I mean, it’s the Oscars—treat it as such.

Aubrey Plaza in Valentino | 2013 Film Independent Spirit Awards

WHO: Aubrey Plaza
WHERE & WHEN: 2013 Film Independent Spirit Awards on February 23, 2013.
WEARING: Valentino dress, Rupert Sanderson shoes

MY VERDICT: Aubrey looked beautifully ready for the spring in her pretty Valentino dress at the Indie Spirit Awards!  The “Parks and Recreation” star arrived on the pink carpet wearing an adorable lightweight ivory dress with colorful sequin flower embroidery all over. I’m such a fan of the vibrant colors used, and how Aubrey complimented them by pulling from the coral-red detail when selecting her footwear. She wore a matching pair of patent “Elba” pumps by Rupert Sanderson, and then finished off the look by twisting her short brunette tresses up and accessorizing with a beautiful multicolored diamond statement ring.

Rooney Mara in Valentino Couture | “Side Effects” Premiere – 2013 Berlinale International Film Festival

Rooney Mara in Balenciaga | 'Side Effects' Premiere - 2013 Berlinale International Film FestivalPhotos: Zimbio; Style.com; Christian Louboutin
WHO: Rooney Mara
WHERE & WHEN: “Side Effects” premiere at the 63rd Berlinale International Film Festival on February 12, 2013.
WEARING: Valentino Haute Couture dress, Christian Louboutin shoes.

MY VERDICT: It appears as though Adele isn’t the only lady checking out the latest couture collection from Valentino this week!  Rooney turned to the Spring 2013 line for her red carpet look at the Berlinale premiere of her new thriller “Side Effects”.  After rocking a seriously cool tomboy ensemble for the photocall earlier in the day, the 27-year-old got ladylike in a floral vine embroidered black dress.  I can’t say that I’m into the puffed short sleeves, but I like the square neckline, and how the handkerchief styled asymmetric skirt is so different from what we’ve been seeing lately.

When a certain silhouette gets worn ad nauseam, it’s nice to see something fresh—and this worked for Rooney.  She completed her look with luminous makeup, a twisted ‘top-knot’, and a pair of shiny black Christian Louboutin “Batignolles” point toe pumps. | continue reading..

Adele in Valentino Couture | 2013 GRAMMY Awards

Adele in Valentino Couture | 2013 GRAMMY AwardsPhotos: Zimbio; Style.com
WHO: Adele
WHERE & WHEN: 55th Annual Grammy Awards on February 10, 2013.
WEARING: Head-to-toe Valentino Spring 2013 Haute Couture & Lorraine Schwartz  jewelry.

MY VERDICT: I’m not sure if I was more shocked to see Adele in bright color or in “Little House on the Prarie” lace, but either way there’s very little she could do to disappoint me. The usual fan of black dresses found herself in head-to-toe red floral from the Valentino Spring 2013 Haute Couture collection. The dress was obviously custom made for her considering the runway doppelganger featured white and beige elements.  While I think the “Set Fire to the Rain” singer looks fantastic in red, I’m just not into the dress in general. The sleeves were so tight, and combined with the high neck, Adele just looked uncomfortable.  That being said, I liked the silhouette of the skirt on her, and I give her props for pairing it with matching shoes; it was risky, but it worked–all things considered.

Adele completed her Grammy look with her signature retro beehive, voluminous lashes and jewelry by Lorraine Schwartz.

Jennifer Lawrence in Valentino | THR Nominees’ Night 2013

Jennifer Lawrence in Valentino | THR Nominees' Night 2013Photos: Zimbio; Style.com; Brian Atwood; Jamie Wolf
WHO: Jennifer Lawrence
WHERE & WHEN: The Hollywood Reporter Nominees’ Night 2013 Celebrating Oscars 2013 on February 4, 2013.
WEARING: Valentino dress, Brian Atwood shoes & Jamie Wolf jewelry.

MY VERDICT: As much as I adore Jennifer, I can’t say that I’ve been really into her style these last few weeks.  One minute she’s giving us “youthful cool”, then “Granny’s disco retreat”, followed by “good, but not great”, and the fun striped jumpsuit with the wayward flap you wanted to flip off.  In a nutshell, for as many looks that I’ve liked there have been just as many that I haven’t been into.  Jen attended two events yesterday and although things started off shaky with that white dress, I thought this pale embroidered Valentino dress was very pretty and sweet.  She paired the frock with nude Brian Atwood “Wagner” pumps with metallic detail, voluminous waves and a berry pout. I’d say it was an improvement over the former, wouldn’t you? | continue reading..
