I often believe in the phrase ‘better late than never’ — especially when it comes to bringing attention to a look that was kind of recent. As I’ve said before, it’s practically impossible to predict what Nicki Minaj will wear to an event, but you can always count on the fact that it will be something to talk about. Sometimes that’s a good thing… and many times it’s not.

When it came to the outfit of the “Starships” singer at the MTV Video Music Awards last night, I actually think Nicki did a pretty good job this time around. Last year we were treated to a very odd attachment of tie-dye stuffed animals to her printed bodysuit, so it’s safe to say that her black lace Versace catsuit with ruby red jewel embellishments was much more appropriate.
