Review: Deborah Lippmann ‘New York Marquee’ Fall 2014 Collection

Product Review

Review: Deborah Lippmann 'New York Marquee' CollectionTake an alternative approach to your autumn wardrobe by spicing up your manicure with jewel-tone chrome thanks to the brand new Deborah Lippmann New York Marquee Fall 2014 Collection. Deborah tips her hat to ‘the city that never sleeps’ this season with what she calls: an ode to Art Deco, from Bowery to Broadway. This exciting, opulent, and beautiful line–which offers complete coverage that’s chip-free, is made up of 6 luxe chrome colors in pewter, gold, blush, magenta, indigo ink and a soft teal.

Because I’m such a ‘Broadway baby’, I had a blast testing out each shade—and admiring my fingernails with zero shame each time. I’ve always been a fan of the easy application of Deborah’s polishes, and it doesn’t hurt that she never fails at creating a unique shade of colors that are almost always universally flattering. I’m sure after reading my review, you’ll find yourself grabbing this collection to celebrate a few exciting NYC nights of your own this fall.

Review: Deborah Lippmann 'New York Marquee' Fall 2014 CollectionLULLABY OF BROADWAY
Lullaby of Broadway — I’d say this was like a rose infused light mocha chrome, which sounds (and looks) so pretty. It’s a lovely light color. I used two coats, mostly to even out any brush strokes.

Review: Deborah Lippmann 'New York Marquee' Fall 2014 CollectionTAKE THE 'A' TRAIN
Take The “A” Train — This is an awesome pewter chrome, and kind of screams ‘New York’ to me. I love the color and the finish. The formula was great and much smoother – I just needed one coat.

Review: Deborah Lippmann 'New York Marquee' Fall 2014 CollectionHARLEM NOCTURNE
Harlem Nocturne — This frosty indigo actually seemed to give off a purple tone for me at times, but I absolutely love the deep blue. The formula was good and I needed only two coats.

Review: Deborah Lippmann 'New York Marquee' Fall 2014 CollectionILL TAKE MANHATTAN
I’ll Take Manhattan — It’s a gorgeous …and I mean a gorgeous metallic shimmery teal that is all kinds of win. Oh, and I don’t mean to brag but this is the result of ONE coat.

Review: Deborah Lippmann 'New York Marquee' Fall 2014 CollectionAUTUMN IN NEW YORK
Autumn In New York — A great gold chrome that you could wear all fall and winter long. I have to say that this was probably the worst for me …formula-wise. There were a few patchy areas and when I tried to even them out I just got a bunch of brush strokes.

Review: Deborah Lippmann 'New York Marquee' Fall 2014 Collection12TH STREET RAG
12th Street Rag — A bright magenta metallic. The formula was pretty good, and this is two coats for coverage.

VERDICT: Overall, I love the finish on this collection. For the most part, they are all one coat polishes–although a few kind of called for a second. I would suggest letting the first completely dry to avoid brush strokes. Speaking of the brush, I love that too; it’s the perfect size and easy to control. My favorites would definitely be Take The “A” Train, I’ll Take Manhattan and Harlem Nocturne.
