WHO: Carey Mulligan WHERE & WHEN: "Another Day, Another Time: Celebrating The Music Of Inside Llewyn Davis Presented By Joel Coen, Ethan Coen and T Bone Burnett" One-Night Only Concert…
WHO: Carey Mulligan WHERE & WHEN: "The Great Gatsby" Australian Premiere on May 22, 2013. WEARING: Nina Ricci top, Lanvin pants, Saint Laurent shoes & jewelry from Tiffany & Co. MY VERDICT: Carey Mulligan brought "The Great Gatsby" to Australia for its most recent premiere--sans her costars Leonardo DiCaprio, who is reportedly still at the Cannes Film Festival, and Isla Fisher who is back in the states promoting a new movie. The English actress passed on a dress and posed on the rained out red carpet wearing a blush pink silk lace strapless bustier by Nina Ricci that she partnered with black Lanvin flat front ankle skimmer trousers, from Fall 2013 collections.
WHO: Carey Mulligan WHERE & WHEN: "The Great Gatsby" 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony on May 15, 2013. WEARING: Christian Dior Haute Couture dress, Salvatore Ferragamo shoes & Tiffany & Co. jewelry. MY VERDICT: It’s only the first day of the Cannes Film Festival, and I’m already shocked by a wardrobe choice. I had Carey Mulligan pegged for wearing a certain designer at "The Great Gatsby" premiere, but the English actress joined director Baz Luhrmann and her co-star Leonardo DiCaprio at the opening ceremony wearing a Dior Haute Couture blush matte satin duchesse gown, which features a plunging v-neckline. I'm so use to black and red dresses on Carey that this was a surprise. The dress is pretty, albeit too light for her. There's something about this that makes me want to relate the hair, makeup, and dress to Gwyneth Paltrow. It would have been nice to see Carey make this big departure and not have it compared to someone else, but it's kind of impossible for me not to.
WHO: Carey Mulligan WHERE & WHEN: "The Great Gatsby" 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival Photocall on May 15, 2013. WEARING: Balenciaga jumpsuit, Saint Laurent Paris shoes MY VERDICT: Before "The Great Gatsby" premieres during the opening gala of the Cannes Film Festival tonight, Carey Mulligan and her cast-mates--including Leonardo DiCaprio and director Baz Luhrmann, attended the press conference late this morning. After rocking the MET Ball red carpet just last week in my favorite cocktail dress from the new Balenciaga by Alexander Wang line, Carey stepped out in yet another amazing look from the Fall 2013 collection. The English actress arrived for the photocall in the strapless black jumpsuit; a sophisticated design that includes a dome cut layered bodice with a bow appliqué and gathered waist trousers.
Whoa, it's that time of year again---the 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival kicks off tomorrow! It's officially time to prepare yourself for gorgeous gowns, and let's face it, questionable choices. Some of my favorite red carpet dresses have been debuted during the prestigious film festival, so I'm looking forward to seeing which repeat attendees will continue their "WOW" streak and who will end up surprising us all. In the meantime, I've compiled a list of dresses I hope to see on the stars who are expected to attend. I have a bit of a soft spot for this particular wish list as the festival last year was the first event I ever did one for. WHO: Carey Mulligan WHERE & WHEN: 2013 Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala – PUNK: Chaos to Couture on May 6, 2013. WEARING: Balenciaga by Alexander Wang MY VERDICT: I was very excited to see Carey wearing my favorite dress from the new Fall 2013 Balenciaga collection by Alexander Wang. This is the designer's first line as the new Creative Director for the beloved fashion house. The "Great Gatsby" actress arrived on the red carpet rocking the sculpted black cocktail dress with a show-stopping cutaway back, angled shoulders, a split peplum and oversize safety pin embellishment at the collar. It had a punk vibe without overly sticking to the theme, and it was the perfect way for Carey to play with it. Refined punk? That sounds about right.
The biggest fashion event of the year is finally here! The red carpet will be filled with all types of punk rock glam this Monday night for the 2013 Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala where your favorite heavy-hitters in fashion, music, film and television will mingle at the stylish fête. Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci will be hosting the VOGUE soirèe that has been officially themed "PUNK: Chaos to Couture" to honor the latest exhibition at the mueseum. From Gwyneth to Beyonce--Karlie to Joan--and KStew to Rooney Mara--they'll all be there, and I can't wait to see who wears what. I certainly have my ideal favorites and predictions, which you'll find below in my biggest wish list yet!
