Review: OPI San Francisco Fall/Winter 2013 Collection
We’re almost done with summer!! I’m sure that will get the response of many groans, but if you’re anything like me, then you’re welcoming the crisp autumn season with open arms clad in a cozy cable knit sweater, of course, because–yessss fall fashion! I’m a huge fan of the “Ber” months, as I refer to September-December. I love the holidays, the clothes, and most of all–the colors!

Needless to say, I was super excited about the launch of 15-polish OPI San Francisco collection for Fall/Winter 2013 and the fact that they were kind enough to send the line my way so that I could tell you all about it. Check out the colorful swatches below and be prepared to find it difficult to select a favorite.

Review: OPI San Francisco Fall/Winter 2013 CollectionA PIERS TO BE TAN

A-Piers To Be Tan — The photo of this color is actually pretty solid in comparison to how it looks in the bottle, however, in my opinion, it looks darker in person on the nail. This isn’t exactly a color I would pick for myself, but I found the formula to be great as it only needed two coats. This is one of those shades that I feel looks best on a fair complexion.

Review: OPI San Francisco Fall/Winter 2013 CollectionFIRST DATE AT THE GOLDEN GATE

First Date at the Golden Gate — This was a bit surprising for me because the formula was so thin that it almost seemed like a jelly polish. Don’t get me wrong, that’s not a bad thing at all, I would just recommend using three coats as looking back at these photos it appears that two just isn’t enough. It really is a beautiful red though.

Review: OPI San Francisco Fall/Winter 2013 CollectionLOST ON LOMARD

Lost on Lombard — This is described as garnet but I would say it almost has a bit of a rustic red look.

It’s a very pretty color and only needed two coats.

Review: OPI San Francisco Fall/Winter 2013 CollectionIN THE CABLE CAR-POOL LANE

In The Cable Car-pool Lane — This was the one out of the whole collection that I couldn’t wait to try—and I absolutely love it! It’s a very deep berry wine shade. It’s a bit on the thin side formula wise, so I used three coats. You won’t hear me complaining though, it’s so worth it! I think this color will get a lot of use from me this season.

Review: OPI San Francisco Fall/Winter 2013 CollectionKEEPING SUZI AT BAY

Keeping Suzi at Bay — Considering rich shades of blue is the hottest color this season, I’ve been on the hunt for the best shade. This might be one of the top best, in my opinion. The formula was great as it only needed two coats.

Review: OPI San Francisco Fall/Winter 2013 CollectionINCOGNITO IN SAUSALITO

Incognito In Sausalito — Another favorite of mine! I love dark colors—especially blues. This glossy shade was so dark that it almost appears black. The forumla was fantastic, and while I used two coats, you could probably get away with just one. I should warn you that you will want to use a good base coat as I had some staining when removing.

Review: OPI San Francisco Fall/Winter 2013 CollectionDINING AL FRISCO

Dining al Frisco — I’m still on the fence with this one. I think the color is very pretty, but the shimmering pearlescent light tone feels best suited as a late winter or spring color rather than autumn. Regardless of seasonal preference, it’s very nice in person–especially if you like shimmery polish. There was complete coverage with just two coats.

Review: OPI San Francisco Fall/Winter 2013 CollectionHAVEN'T THE FOGGIEST

Haven’t The Foggiest — I was pretty surprised at how much I liked this as silver polishes can be a hit or miss. If you’ve been on the hunt for a great metallic then I recommend picking this up. The formula was great, not at all thin like I thought it would be.

There was only 1 coat needed!

Review: OPI San Francisco Fall/Winter 2013 CollectionEMBARCA DARE-YA

Embarca- Dare Ya! — This was very difficult to photograph and catch the true color. It’s a very shimmery magenta, but has a slight color shift of red as well as gold. I’ve included an alternate photo below to give you a better idea of the double tone.

Review: OPI San Francisco Fall/Winter 2013 CollectionI KNEAD SOUR DOUGH

I Knead Sour-dough — This really put me in the autumn-ready mood. This is a very rich and pretty toasted brown–a classic fall color. The formula wasn’t an issue, and I only used 2 coats to achieve complete coverage.

Review: OPI San Francisco Fall/Winter 2013 CollectionMUIR MUIR ON THE WALL

Muir Muir on the Wall — This is right up there as one of my favorites from the collection–in fact, it’s probably at the top of the list. It’s an awesome duochrome that shifts from a deep plum to almost bronze. Um, Love! There weren’t any problems formula-wise, and I’d say about two to 3 coats for coverage.

See an alternate view of the color below.

Review: OPI San Francisco Fall/Winter 2013 CollectionPEACE LOVE & OPI

Peace & Love & OPI — Described by OPI as ‘ holographic sage and eggplant’, but I didn’t really see the eggplant at all. It shifts from a blue-ish silver tone to green, and then lavender. It’s almost a dead ringer dupe of Essie’s “For The Twill Of It” as well.

Next up, are the three textured Liquid Sand polishes from the collection. All of these were super easy to apply, dried pretty quickly, and only needed two coats. For the full textured look it’s recommended not to use and base or top coat.

I, however, used a base coat for all to prevent any staining.

Review: OPI San Francisco Fall/Winter 2013 CollectionIT'S ALL SAN ANDREAS FAULT

It’s All San Andreas’s Fault — This was probably my least favorite—mostly because I have a difficult time finding a good deep beige that works with my medium/olive complexion. Like with “A Piers to be Tan”, this might look best on someone with fair skin.

Review: OPI San Francisco Fall/Winter 2013 CollectionWHARF! WHARF! WHARF!

Warf! Warf! Warf! — I’m kind of obsessed with this. It reminds me of a textured version of “Keeping Suzi at Bay”.

This is such a pretty blue.

Review: OPI San Francisco Fall/Winter 2013 CollectionALCATRAZ...ROCKS

Alcatraz … Rocks — If you love glitter polish, you will fall in love with this instantly! This is such a awesome color, and probably one of my all-time favorite texture polishes in general, not just for the Liquid Sands. It’s packed with so much silver, purple and gold glitter that it actually does almost look like rock. Simply put: it ROCKS.

VERDICT: This was a hefty collection to swatch due to the many different shades, and although it’s hard to pick my favorites, overall, there are some pretty great shades that I would definitely recommend picking up a few of them. My Top 6 would be: “Muir Muir on the Wall”, “In the Cable Car-pool Lane”, “Keeping Suzi at Bay”, “Incognito In Sausalito”, “Haven’t the Foggiest”, and “Alcatraz…Rocks”.
