I’m beyond excited to share the latest collection from OPI with you, and if you follow all of my crazy Twitter ramblings then you’ll probably have an idea why–it’s all about Minnie Mouse! That’s right, I got my Disney-loving paws on the Couture de Minnie line, and before you go and say you already have the OPI Minnie polishes–slow your roll, because these bad boys are brand new!
Last summer OPI released some ultra-cute colors for their Vintage Minnie Collection, but this latest line is geared towards taking your favorite lady mouse in the high couture fashion direction. Disney has been focusing heavily on the fashionable side of Miss Minnie, and I love it! These are two of my total favorites coming together for one stylish venture.
Let’s start with my favorite of the bunch: A Definite Moust-Have is an odd one; it’s described as fuchsia, but in the bottle looks like a coral, and then depending on if your indoors or outside–it goes from hot pink to fuchsia. This gorgeous shade has a very subtle shimmer to it as well. This would be my “must-have” out of the whole collection for the summer as it really pops against a sun-kissed glow. In fact, this is the color that I immediately put back on after swatching. The formula is great, and while I used two coats, if you’re careful you could even get away with one.
Chic From Ears to Tail is the lightest of the bunch with a bubblegum soft pink, and the same slight shimmer of A Definite Moust-Have. I will say that the shimmer, to me, is more noticeable in this one, and I think is what makes it so great. I’m not really a pink kind of girl–especially light pink, but I love this. The formula was the worst of the bunch as it was a bit streaky, but by the end it seemed to level out after three thin coats. Minnie Style was the color that I was most excited to try, and–oh-em-gee–the glitter! I have a slight obsession with glitter–especially unique combinations. This is a mix of red, pink, and white hex confetti glitter in a clear base. It’s incredibly pretty, and if you’re only going to get one from the collection then I’d say get this one. But, I’m just sayin’. The formula was a bit thick and because of that I had to dab with a few nails. But overall it wasn’t too bad, I only needed one coat over Chic From Ears to Tail. Innie Minnie Mightie Bow screams Minnie to me! This is a beautiful classic crimson red with gold micro shimmer, and it reminds me of the color of her classic polka dot dress. I found that this looked like it was way more shimmery in the bottle than actually on, but I could see it being the perfect red for the holidays…or, you know, maybe Christmas in July? Not that I’m giving you any ideas (::wink-wink-nudge-nudge::). The formula was great and I used just two coats to reach full opacity. Magazine Cover Mouse is the textured one of the bunch as it is a Liquid Sand. Yes, it’s exactly as it sounds; this is almost a very fine sand texture once dried. This particular color is what OPI describes as “a strawberry shade”. I simply call it “gorgeous”. The color really brightens out in the sun or when the light hits it just right. The formula was so easy to apply and clean up, not to mention dries pretty fast. It’s actually not as gritty as you would imagine it would be once it dries. OPI says not to use a top coat, but if you’re not into the textured polish trend it looks just as great with one.I used two coats, as well as two of the top coat, which I included a photo of below.
VERDICT: I’m a big fan of the entire collection and think OPI did a fantastic job capturing Minnie’s style.I look forward to any collaborations that they may do again in the future with Disney.
