Review: OPI x Mariah Carey Holiday/Winter 2013 Collection – Part III (Liquid Sand)

Product Review

Review: OPI Mariah Carey Holiday/Winter 2013 CollectionFor the final installment of my review of the OPI x Mariah Carey Holiday-Winter 2013 Collection, I give you the ultra-gorgeous group of liquid sands. These textured glittering polishes are definitely on-trend with the latest nail craze, and it’s just an extra perk that they’re so pretty. I’ve said it before, but OPI’s Liquid Sands are some of the better textured polishes that have come out this year. I love the formula, they dry great and looks just as beautiful with a top coat.

Make sure you also check out my thoughts on the CREMES & SHIMMERS (Part I) and the GLITTERS (Part II)!

FYI: For the swatches below I used two coats for each and without a basecoat.

Review: OPI Mariah Carey Holiday/Winter 2013 CollectionITS FROSTY OUTSIDE
It’s Frosty Outside – LOVE! This is probably my favorite of the holiday Liquid Sands, there’s just so much sparkle!

Review: OPI Mariah Carey Holiday/Winter 2013 CollectionMAKE HIM MINE
Make Him Mine – This is a rose metallic with a hint of copper, and it reminds me of a snickerdoodle cookie–if that makes any sense. Normally I wouldn’t go for a color this light, but I really like it and I’ll probably revisit it in February for Valentine’s Day.

Review: OPI Mariah Carey Holiday/Winter 2013 CollectionSILENT STARS GO BY
Silent Stars Go By – It looked a bit pink, but then like a rosy silver. I’d say it’s basically a lighter version of Make Him Mine.

Review: OPI Mariah Carey Holiday/Winter 2013 CollectionBABY PLEASE COME HOME
Baby Please Come Home – I think this looks more lilac in the bottle then actually on the nail as it took on more of a grey-slate metallic when I put it on. I only wish there was a coordinating color in the Cremes & Shimmers for me to create some kind of nail art tonal combo.

Review: OPI Mariah Carey Holiday/Winter 2013 CollectionKISS ME AT MIDNIGHT
Kiss Me At Midnight – This is so pretty and bright! I love the name and could see wearing this for New Years, but also maybe for those that celebrate Hannukah. I love it! The silver sparkle thrown in there just makes the blue shine even more.

Review: OPI Mariah Carey Holiday/Winter 2013 CollectionEMOTIONS
Emotions – I have very mixed feelings on this, for some reason I had a really hard time with the application and it took awhile for it to dry. I love that it’s a solid black texture as all the others I’ve seen are mixed with silver, but it’s not one I’d really wear during the holidays. A textured white could have been fun for a snowball effect.

VERDICT: The Liquid Sands pretty much never disappoint. My faves are definitely “Kiss Me At Midnight” and “It’s Frosty Outside”.
