Review: ZOYA ‘Awaken’ Spring 2014 Collection

Product Review

Review: ZOYA 'Awaken' Spring 2014 CollectionDespite the short snow-covered days, I never realize how much I truly miss spring until I start seeing all of the pretty pastel nail polish collections begin to debut. This year ZOYA has created the “Awaken” collection, a stunning batch of glorious soft hues to celebrate the blooming season. Six new, full-coverage creams and metallic shimmer nail polish colors fill this Spring 2014 line that I’m certain you’re bound to fall in love with.

The awesome team over at Zoya headquarters sent the collection my way to try out and share with all of you–so let’s ‘hop’ to it!

Get it? Spring humor. I crack myself up.

Review: ZOYA 'Awaken' Spring 2014 CollectionDOT
Dot — This pink creme was originally created for Zang Toi’s SS14 collection. While it’s a very pretty soft pink, the formula on this was difficult. Not only was it pretty sheer, but streaky as well. It took four coats to get it to smooth out a bit.

Review: ZOYA 'Awaken' Spring 2014 CollectionCOLE
Cole — What a beautiful soft peach! Peach and coral colors are usually my go-to’s this time of year, so I was excited to try out this color. Unfortunately, I was bummed to find that the formula wasn’t a ‘peach’ to apply. While the streaking was difficult to work with, I think it evened out okay after three coats. This was originally created for Peter Som’s SS14 collection.

Review: ZOYA 'Awaken' Spring 2014 CollectionBROOKLYN
Brooklyn — I thought this was going to be a shimmery yellow, but it’s actually more of a “white-gold metallic shimmer”. The formula was good, however, be careful with brush strokes as they are a bit noticeable. I got good coverage after only two coats.

Review: ZOYA 'Awaken' Spring 2014 CollectionDILLON
Dillon — This color is exactly what I think of when it comes to spring shades. The mint green metallic shimmer almost has a gold touch to it, which is very nice–especially in person. The formula was good as well; it only took two coats to smooth everything out.

Review: ZOYA 'Awaken' Spring 2014 CollectionHUDSON
Hudson — A “purple orchid” with gorgeous shimmer. The formula was great and I only needed two coats for full coverage.

Review: ZOYA 'Awaken' Spring 2014 CollectionREBEL
Rebel — Wow, this is just so pretty! By now, you should know how much I love blue polish and this one is no different. Again, the formula on this was good with only two coats.

VERDICT: Overall, I love the shimmer colors! They were all easy to apply and are great for spring. I sort of wish Cole had been a shimmer, as I didn’t care much for the creme formulas, however the color is so pretty it’s worth dealing with. My favorites would definitely be Rebel, Dillon and Cole. One of the best things about this collection is that I think it will favor a wide range of complexions–and who doesn’t love that?
