Review: OPI Brazil Spring/Summer 2014 Collection

Product Review

Review: OPI Brazil Spring/Summer 2014 CollectionWe’re only a few short months away from the 2014 FIFA World Cup being held in Brazil, and OPI is ready to celebrate it this summer by releasing the Spring/Summer 2014 Brazil Collection. The vibrant line is the perfect mix of bright, bold colors to earthy beach tones. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this collection, or rather get these polishes on my nails.

I think there’s the ‘perfect’ summer shade to flatter any complexion, which always ‘scores a goal’ in my polish handbook. I think OPI totally nailed it with this seasonal collection, but you can see for yourself below with my provided swatch review.

Review: OPI Brazil Spring/Summer 2014 CollectionI JUST CANT COPE-ACABANA
I Just Can’t Cope-acabana — This is a bright sunny yellow creme. This color screams ‘summer’ to me, and is just so pretty! I usually have a hard time applying yellow polish, due to lots of streaking. The first coat was a bit streak-ish, however, after the second, it all evened out pretty well.

Review: OPI Brazil Spring/Summer 2014 CollectionWHERE DID SUZI'S MAN-GO?
Where Did Suzi’s Man-go? — This is a nice smooth orange mango creme. I absolutely love this color! The formula was great too and opaque in just two coats.

Review: OPI Brazil Spring/Summer 2014 CollectionTOUCAN DO IT IF YOU TRY
Toucan Do it If You Try — Another beautiful creme, which is more of an orange-coral. I love this one too and again the formula was great, easy to work with and covered in two coats.

Review: OPI Brazil Spring/Summer 2014 CollectionKISS ME I'M BRAZILIAN
Kiss Me I’m Brazilian — This is a vibrant pink creme; a really pretty shade of pink to be frank. I used two coats and had zero issues with the application.

Review: OPI Brazil Spring/Summer 2014 CollectionLIVE. LOVE. CARNAVAL.
Live. Love. Carnaval. — It’s probably not surprising that I love this color too. In fact, I have a lot of favorites in this collection as I’m digging the lively bold colors! This is more of a coral creme with an almost perfect formula–two coat coverage, baby.

Review: OPI Brazil Spring/Summer 2014 CollectionRED HOT RIO
Red Hot Rio — A red creme with somewhat of a jelly formula. The first coat was almost sheer for me, but the build up was good. I’m wearing two coats, but if your nails are longer you may need three for full coverage. OPI never disappoints on their red shades though, and I definitely know what red I’ll be using for Christmas in July themed nail art this summer.

Review: OPI Brazil Spring/Summer 2014 CollectionNEXT STOP...THE BIKINI ZONE
Next Stop…The Bikini Zone — This is sort of a amethyst-and-silver duochrome with tons of shimmer. It’s also much thinner than the other polishes in the collection ,and needed three thin coats for coverage. I have to mention that it was slightly annoying to remove as the shimmer ended up sticking all over my fingers. Bummer.

Review: OPI Brazil Spring/Summer 2014 CollectionDON'T BOSSA NOVA ME AROUND
Don’t Bossa Nova Me Around — This is a very nice pink-toned nude creme. Even though it’s probably one of the most neutral and lightest color of the collection, it’s also one of my favorites. I used only two coats for coverage, which is surprising as they are usually a bit hard to even out.

Review: OPI Brazil Spring/Summer 2014 CollectionTAUPELESS BEACH
Taupe-less Beach — A light taupe creme; very smooth and easy to apply. I used only two coats to cover as well. I really dig how light it looks.

Review: OPI Brazil Spring/Summer 2014 CollectionI SAO PAULO OVER THERE
I São Paulo Over There — While it’s another taupe in the collection, it’s darker and with more of a “mocha” tone. While I do like it, I have to say I think I prefer Taupe-less Beach. I used only two coats for complete coverage.

Review: OPI Brazil Spring/Summer 2014 CollectionAMAZON...AMAZOFF
AmazON…AmazOFF — This is described as a “deep jungle green”, but it’s actually more of a dark teal. It’s a bit hard to tell in my photo, and in person as well, but it has a very light shimmer to it. It’s a very beautiful color with great formula. I should warn you to be careful when removing—this bad boy stained my fingers.

Review: OPI Brazil Spring/Summer 2014 CollectionOPI SCORES A GOAL!
OPI Scores A Goal! —- I’m not really sure if it’s more of a brown or dark purple–maybe even burgundy–but, either way this is a great color. In fact, I’ll probably save it to use in early fall. The formula was great; I had no problem with application and only needed two coats for coverage.

VERDICT: There are a lot of great colors in the collection, and a variety for just about everyone. My personal favorites for summer would have to be Where Did Suzi’s Man-go?, Toucan Do It If You Try, and Live. Love. Carnaval. — although I have to say that I’m sure I’ll be revisiting some of the darker colors and taupes come autumn.
