In conjunction with the release of their super cool new peel-off glitter base coat ‘Glitter Off’, OPI is releasing six sparkly glitters with their new collection Spotlight On Glitter. For the hardcore polish and OPI fans, most of these seem to be re-released/re-named glitters of collection past—however, it’s a treat for those that weren’t able to grab them before, like myself.
Needless to say, I was pretty ‘jazzed’ about getting my sparkle on when OPI sent them my way for a test drive. I dare you not to get glitter obsessed after checking these out. Because I wanted to really put some ‘spotlight’ on the glitter, I applied them over base shades from the Brazil Summer 2014 Collection, which allowed for them to stand out a bit better.
In the wise words of Ke$ha: ‘…go insane. Throw some glitter, make it rain!’.

Blush Hour — This is one of the new glitters from the brand, and it’s a “berry mix” of fuchsia and purple glitter in a purple tinted base. You can get a good look at the tint in the photo above of it over Don’t Bossa Nova Me Around. The coverage was good.
Chasing Rainbows — Okay, this is literally a beautiful bottle of broken rainbows; a mix of colored hex glitter in a clear base–it also seems to be a dupe of the popular OPI color Rainbow Connection (The Muppets Holiday 2011 Collection). The coverage was pretty good, although I did need to move it around a bit as it tried to all pool in spots. Here I’ve paired it with I Just Can’t Cope-acabana (left) and Where Did Suzi’s Man-Go? (right).
Rose of Light — This is another new glitter and probably my favorite. It’s a mix of rose gold and holographic glitter in a clear base. Just enough sparkle to be fabulous! The coverage was great, definitely one I’d wear often. I paired it with a base of Next Stop The Bikini Zone (left) and Toucan Do It If You Try (right).
You Pink Too Much — A mix of rose hex and silver micro glitter in a clear base, and a dupe of OPI’s Pink Yet Lavender (Mariah Carey 2012 Collection). To me, on the nail, it even looked similar to Rose of Light. The coverage was decent as well; I applied one coat over both Taupe-less Beach (left) and Live. Love. Carnaval. (right).
Desperately Seeking Sequins — A mix of holographic silver hex and bar glitter, this is basically great over just about anything. It’s a dupe of Which Is Witch? from OPI’s Wizard of Oz Collection. I paired it with AmazON…AmazOFF (left) and Red Hot Rio (right).
I Reached My Gold! — I was a bit cautious in trying this one as it’s a dupe of OPI When Monkey’s Fly (Wizard of Oz 2013 Collection), which caught a lot of heat for a crazy amount of curling with the glitter. I did have a little bit of curling, but not as bad as I was expecting. I’m sure a good top coat would smooth things out very well, my personal favorite is
Cult Nails – Wicked Fast. While I do love the look of the glitter, I wish there was a bit more of the smaller glitter as I had to fish it out and dab the large gold hexes on. I’ve layered over I Sao Paulo Over There (left) and OPI Scores A Goal! (right).
VERDICT: While the glitters are great, the collection is mostly made up of OPI dupes. My fave picks would have to be Rose of Light and Desperately Seeking Sequins.
