Product Review
Autumn is my favorite time of year; for the slight chill in the air, for the food, for Pumpkin Spice lattes, for fashion, and–of course, for nail polish. Not only do I love the colors and the spirit of the season, but I always feel like polish looks the best on my nails during this time of year, but maybe that’s due to the lack of a tan changing my natural tone or skin bitten from the harsh winter weather.
This year Essie has increased my eagerness for fall with their ultra-chic new “Dress To Kilt” Collection. This gorgeous line includes 6 lush cremes in vibrant shades of seasonal favorites, includes a soft taupe, two leafy greens, a sophisticated royal cobalt, a yummy chocolate, and a siren red that’s honored with the namesake of the collection.
I was totally psyched when the cool team over at Essie sent me these six beauties to try out so that I could share my thoughts with all of you. I hope you take the time to enjoy my review before you rundontwalk to your nearest beauty supply store to stock up on a few bottles for yourself!

Take It Outside — This is a very pretty neutral taupe; I think it would be a great color to transition from summer to fall with. The formula was a bit thin and caused a bit of cuticle flooding for me. I used two coats for coverage.
Fall In Line — A gorgeous murky green and exactly a color I would rock this autumn. The formula was nice with a smooth application. I used two coats for the photo above.
The Perfect Cover Up — A deep teal that I absolutely love! The formula again was fabulous and super smooth to apply. Actually, it was so good that I probably could have gotten away with just one coat–but, I did two just to be safe.
Partner In Crime — This is a rich and deep chocolate brown. I’m a bit of a dark color addict during the fall, and this is really dark. I actually felt it looked a shade or two darker on than in the bottle. I didn’t have any problems with the formula; it was almost a ‘one coater’ as well. Again, I stayed on the safe side with two coats.
Style Cartel — A dark cobalt blue. I have no complaints about the formula, although it seemed like a jelly texture on the first coat, but proved to be fine coverage-wise after the second coat. Fair warning: It slightly stains. My fingers looked a little Smurf-ish after removal.
Dress To Kilt — The star of the collection and a smooth red creme. Under certain light it gives off a pink tone, but it’s pretty. I used two coats for full coverage.
VERDICT: Overall, these are fantastic colors for the fall season and any of them would be a good purchase. I’d pick Partner In Crime, Fall In Line and The Perfect Cover Up as my favorites.
