Review: Essie 'Social Lights' Winter/Holiday 2017 Collection

Your nails will be poppin’ as you ring in the holidays with the Essie ‘Social Lights’ Holiday 2017 Collection. The 6-shade collection features bubbly festive tones in juicy reds, deep green, vibrant metallic and even warm neutral for multiple ways to celebrate — plus, the nail art possibilities are endless!

I’ve been waiting for this collection to drop for months so, needless to say, I was very excited to try it out and, thanks to the lovely crew at Essie, I did. Check out the array of awesome below!

Review: Essie 'Social Lights' Winter/Holiday 2017 CollectionSUIT AND TIED

Suit & Tied – This pretty pink toned beige cream was smooth in two easy coats–plus top coat.

It’s not really ‘my’ kind of color, but it’s a good one.

Review: Essie 'Social Lights' Winter/Holiday 2017 CollectionSOCIAL-LIGHTS

Social-Lights – I love, love, LOVE!! I want to call this a gray duochrome as it’s giving off that look with shifts of pink and gold shimmer; whatever you want to call it, it’s gorgeous! The shifts transfer well to the nail too, it’s not just all in the bottle. The formula was great and easy to apply, not to mention super glossy.

I used two coats, no top coat.

Review: Essie 'Social Lights' Winter/Holiday 2017 CollectionON YOUR MISTLETOES

On Your Mistletoes – Okay, so I like this one way more than I thought I would. It’s a very pretty but deep and dark teal; I can’t even describe why I love it so much. For me, it seemed to have dried a tad darker than it appears in the bottle. I did two coats–no top, because I like to, but you could probably get away with one.

Review: Essie 'Social Lights' Winter/Holiday 2017 CollectionRING IN THE BLING

Ring in the Bling – A pearlized ruby red with gold shimmer. This shade seems very similar to Social-Lights judging by the bottle. Unfortunately, that beautiful gold shimmer doesn’t seem to transfer that boldly to the nail. While I was a tiny bit bummed about that, this is still a great red to rock for the holidays.

I did two glossy coats, no top coat, and be careful to avoid visible brush strokes.

VERDICT: I love the colors, and think I’ll go out and get the other two from the collection. They all were great formula wise and easy to apply. Out of the shades I tried, I’d suggest grabbing On Your Miseltoes and definitely Social-Lights before that one is hard to find.

Colors not included in this review but also available: Be Cherry!; New Year, New Hue.
