I’m the type that wants the holiday season to never end, but there’s something about the freshness of the new year—the endless possibilities, and what better way to storm into the new year than in a glitter storm? Essie has created a glittering nail polish collection filled with shimmering textured shades that will have you ‘pounding the pavement’ of 2019 in style — the Concrete Glitters Collection!
There are six shades in the line–ranging from glitzy neutrals like cream and slate, to a pretty pink and purple, and a gleaming copper and teal. The team at Essie was kind enough to send it my way to do a swatch review for you all. Read on to pick your favorite shade (::cough::probablyallofthem::cough::)!
Venture to the Venue – A really pretty sheer white with subtle glow of gold, blue and pink glitter. The glitter is a little hard to pick up in photos, but noticeable on the nail. This one was a little thick formula wise, but could be a fluke because it was the only one of the bunch. However, application was still a breeze and done in two coats.
Beat of the Moment – A delicate rose pink, packed and sparkling with gold glitter. Formula wise it was great and easy to apply, I used two coats for full coverage.
Stay Up Slate – “A nocturnal slate gray glitter”, that really does give the look of glittering concrete. In the bottle it looks a little bit like an oil slick because of the touch of gold, pink and blue glitter. That look does not transfer well to the nail, but it’s still really nice. Application was easy with two coats for coverage.
Can’t Stop Her in Copper – The name is a little misleading because it’s not really copper, but a gorgeous gold packed with sparkle! It’s probably my absolute favorite of the bunch. It was, again, a great formula and two coats used for coverage.
Night Owl – This shade is described as an emerald green, but definitely looks more teal to me … probably because of all the blue and gold glitter. I love it! As usual with a teal shade this dark, you should be careful removing it as you want to avoid any staining.
The application is just as good as the others and applied in two coats.
City Slicker – If I wear pink polish, I usually reach for shades like this, a dark fuchsia pink. Unlike the other shades this one seems to be packed with silver and a touch of blue glitter.
Two coats were used for full coverage.
VERDICT: This is a fabulous collection! I thought maybe I’d have one I liked because I’m not a big textured polish fan, but every single shade is great. I’ve never had any textured Essie polish apply as smoothly as these did. Drying time was good, formula is great, and amazing colors! Oh, and the wide brush is an extra bonus. My recommendation would to be to BUY. EVERY. COLOR!!
Just a quick note, I did not use any base coat with these as it could change the textured look.
