MY VERDICT: It was a huge night for Lady Gaga at the MTV VMAs! The “Rain On Me” singer, who recently released her new album Chromatica, was nominated for a slew of awards and was honored with the first-ever MTV Tricon Award during the, mostly virtual, ceremony.
In true Gaga fashion, the star arrived in a AREA futuristic silver parka coat, worn as a dress, from the Fall/Winter 2020 collection that was partnered with epic platform Pleaser boots and a Conrad by Conrad fishbowl helmet, and enhanced with her long icy grey mane.
For her second look, Gaga wore a digitally cool custom dress by Iris Van Herpen in vivid colors that she paired with a pink Cecilio Designs mask and, once again, her favorite black Pleaser platform boots.
The third costume change gave us a major gown moment!
Gaga looked gorgeous in a emerald green short sleeve Christopher John Rogers Fall/Winter 2020 gown.
She continued to follow safety measures with a Lance V. Moore horn mask.
For an unforgettable VMA moment, Gaga wore a show-stopping Valentino Fall 2020 Haute Couture look! She selected the silver bodysuit and epic full length embroidered white coat. She further amplified the look with a matching silver Maison Met mask and her Pleaser boots in white.
Okay, this was probably my favorite Gaga look of the night, but are you surprised?
Gaga kept on her Valentino bodysuit and Maison Met mask for her next wardrobe change, but opted for a custom silver mega coat from Candice Cuoco. How wild is that head piece?!
For her medley performance, which you can watch at the bottom of this post, Gaga kicked things off in a custom mint green and black latex ensemble from Vex Clothing.
She was joined on stage by Ariana Grande (wearing a custom Howie B. outfit!) in another bikini costume look, this time, a purple and black two-piece from Deadly Fetish Couture.
For the final look in her performance, we saw Gaga emerge in a custom pink and black catsuit from BCalla that was coordinated with black ankle boots.
After all of those changes, a smashing performance and several wins, you can’t be surprised to see that Gaga ended her night in stylish comfort. She slipped into an oversize Lady Gaga x MTV VMA ‘Chromatica’ t-shirt (get it here!) and Pleaser boots… and called it a night!
Overall, I had a lot of fun seeing all of Gaga’s wardrobe changes. They were perfect for the occasion, a welcomed sight after months of no events—-it made me miss the regularity of red carpet even more.
