MY VERDICT: The 2020 MTV VMAs were held, mostly, virtually this year due to COVID-19 — and that included the red carpet, which was obviously white, but you get my point. Photography magic and a lot of glam made it appear like the stars all stepped out at the same time for MTV’s biggest night of the year.
Nicole Richie, who recently debuted music as ‘Nikki Fre$h’, wore a chartreuse Cong Tri dress from the Spring/Summer 2020 runway collection; a short twisted drape dress with a full length train that gave us the perfect view of her neon Christian Louboutin ‘Spikaqueen’ crystal-embellished heels. A spiky headband coordinated with her shoes to help top off her VMA ensemble.
Considering the show was so much more low-key this year, I’m not sure Nicole needed to go this big, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t work for her. The dress didn’t overwhelm her frame and the color looked great against Nicole’s skin. I think this might be one of her best looks to date.
