MY VERDICT: You know the term ‘all dressed up and nowhere to go’, and I’m sure you’ve used it at least once during quarantine this year, but that was literally the first thing that came to mind when I saw Sofia Carson’s red gown for the MTV VMAs. Don’t get me wrong, this Giambattista Valli Fall 2020 Haute Couture peplum gown is divine and Sofia looks gorgeous in it… but for a mostly virtual award show and the lack of a red carpet in the way that we have always known it, it just felt like too much.
One could say “you can never be too over-dressed,” but as much as I miss serious red carpet glam, I do wish Sofia had opted for something just as chic, but with less volume, from Valli’s Resort 2021 line.
Elegant jewelry and her signature sleek swept-bang up ‘do polished off her look.
In a nutshell, there’s not one thing I dislike about this look…other than the event where it was worn. That said, I’ll assume that an eagerness to wear this and the fact that we have no idea when we’ll have a normal red carpet again played a part in Sofia’s selection.
