This holiday season may look a little different, but you can still be the shining star you are this year with the new OPI ‘Shine Bright’ Holiday 2020 Collection — a 15-shade collection destined to bring glitz and glamour to your finger tips as you ring in the celebrations of the season — even if it’s from the comfort of your own home.
The limited edition range includes 12 colors and 3 exclusive glitters in collaboration with Swarovski. The palette was designed to ‘bring to life the joy-filled festivities that spark our imagination.’ Additionally, there are Infinite Shine versions to give you up to 11 days of wear and gel-like shine.
OPI sent me the line to test out and review — check out my results below! Happy Holidays!
Dressed To the Wines – A red-wine shimmer! Even though the color isn’t really unique, it’s still one that I love and think everyone needs. I used two coats for full coverage.
Gingerbread Man Can – This is a very unique shade; it almost looks like a dusty light brown, probably because of all the shimmer in it. The formula is a little thin, but builds up nicely and I only needed two coats for coverage.
This Gold Sleighs Me – A yellow gold pearlized metallic formula was about the same as the previous pearl shades. Not much of a fan of this one either – I used two coats.
Heart and Coal – This is a black with holographic glitter — although, it actually seems more of a dark gray but that could be because of all the glitter in it. It kind of reminds me of a more subtle version of China Glaze’s Night and Slay. The application was okay, but easy to drag when applying additional coats and definitely needs a good top coat.
Let’s Take an Elfie – I love this violet and the subtle sparkle, it’s gorgeous!
I would definitely say that this is another shade that you must grab.
Merry In Cranberry – A berry fuchsia with a bit of pearlized finish. The color is pretty, and the formula is great; almost a one coater but I used two just to be safe.
Naughty or Ice – A light champagne that’s packed with silver shimmer. I love the color, but not how thin the formula is. I needed three coats for the photos though it probably could have used another.
Red-Y For the Holidays – No holiday collection from OPI is complete without one of their signature reds. This creme is just as good as any of them – classic, smooth and almost a one coater.
Snowfalling For You – This pink pearlescent is a pretty shade, but really hard to work with. The streaks are basically unavoidable and so noticeable it makes the color unappealing. I used two coats.
This Shade Is Ornamental – A rose pink pearlescent, a darker and easier version of Snowfalling For You. You still get some streaking, but no way as bad as the previous. I prefer the darker pink as well, and again, I applied two coats for full coverage.
Tinsel Tinsel Lil Star – A cool metallic silver, with iridescent shimmer. Formula-wise, it was a bit thin and I needed three coats.
To All A Good Night – This sparkling midnight blue is beautiful and my favorite of them all! The formula was thin, but built up really nice. I used two coats for coverage but, depending on how heavy you apply or long your nails are, you may need three coats.
VERDICT: It’s a nice collection with a lot of pretty colors. I’m not really a fan of the amount of pearlized shades, just because streaks are too frustrating to deal with. But it definitely has a few winners. As for my favorites, I tend to lean more towards dark shades so I’d pick To All A Good Night, Let’s Take An Elfie and Dressed to the Wines as the top colors from this holiday line.
Please Note: I did not review the 3 exclusive glitters, but you can find them available here.
