MY VERDICT: Somewhere out there, Dorothy is wearing the matching shoes to the dress Gemma donned on the BRIT Awards red carpet this year.  The “Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters” actress shimmered in a ruby sequin cardigan dress from the Spring 2013 collection by Jonathan Saunders.  I really liked the drop waist of this design on the runway, and while that didn’t change on Gemma, I noticed that the angled cut of the skirt had virtually disappeared.  Needless to say, I prefer the fit on the model as well as the color combination of the sandals.  Gemma opted for black and white, which didn’t compliment as well as the charcoal and scarlet colorway.  Bummer.

MY VERDICT: I’ve been awaiting the moment that I would see this polka-dot sheer gown on the red carpet, and Gemma Arterton was the one to take the Nina Ricci asymmetric beauty off the runway when she attended the Mexico City premiere of “Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters”.  Unfortunately, I don’t think she was the right woman for the job.  Gemma has a terrific figure, but the ruching at the slit was unflattering on her; this wasn’t helpful to her or the dress. Sometimes it’s just simply (and sadly) isn’t a match. Furthermore, I think the show could have been better since it was put on display.

That being said, her silky big curls and flawless makeup were the big winners here.

 

Gemma Arterton rocked a heavily embellished black monochrome look for the 58th annual London Evening Standard Theatre Awards, which were held on Sunday night in England.

The “Songs For Marion” actress hit the black carpet in a strapless neoprene bustier dress from the Fall 2012 collection by Lanvin, which featured a full jewel-embellished motif on the front that included beaded mirrored leaves and large glass jewels. This dress is currently available through FarFetch.com for $8,020.

Gemma Arterton opted for pants tonight when she took on the red carpet for the British Fashion Awards in London.  The 26-year-old actress arrived at The Savoy Hotel wearing head-to-toe Stella McCartney, an honored designer of the night.

Last night Gucci and Vanity Fair Magazine honored actor Robert De Niro and the World Restoration premiere of Sergio Leone’s “Once Upon A Time In America” during the 65th Annual Cannes Film Festival with a fancy soirée held at the Hotel du Cap in Cannes, France.

The star-studded dinner was hosted by Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini, Vanity Fair Editor Graydon Carter, and PPR Chairman and CEO François-Henri Pinault.

Gemma Arterton was one of the many lovely women on the red carpet last night during the 65th Annual Cannes Film Festival wearing Gucci.

The 26-year-old English actress attended the premiere of “Once Upon A Time” at Palais des Festivals wearing a striking Gucci Première tulle floor length sleeveless v-neck gown featuring an all over linear embroidery of oyster grey crystals and beads.

It would have been nice to see Gemma’s thick hair down in pretty curls with this, but I liked her twisted and swept up ‘do.

She finished off her look with a cherry red manicure, a pair of Gucci black velvet high heeled evening sandals and 18kt yellow gold diamantissima drop earrings.

In town for Milan Fashion Week, Gemma Arterton was among the star-studded attendees at the opening of  “Gucci Museo”, the Gucci Museum in Italy last night.

Gemma wore a full look from the Gucci resort 2012 collection which included a caramel blush leather cropped jacket with a white blouse, black pencil skirt, chain-lock necklace, black leather pumps and a pony hair clutch in a fierce zebra print.

In my book Gemma was hitting all the right doubts, but hit a road-block when she decided to leave her hair up. She had already copied the look from head to toe, but I don’t think she should’ve went as far as imitating the make-up and hairstyle. The ensemble is more of a day look, so I would’ve suggested she make it “cocktail ready” with a dramatic smokey eye and some long tumbling waves.
