Fan Bingbing in Elie Saab Couture | “Jeune & Jolie” Premiere – 2013 Cannes Film Festival

Fan Bingbing in Elie Saab Couture | 'Jeune & Jolie' Premiere - 2013 Cannes Film FestivalPhotos: Zimbio; Style.com
WHO: Fan Bingbing
WHERE & WHEN: “Jeune & Jolie” 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival Premiere on May 16, 2013.
WEARING: Elie Saab Haute Couture dress, Judith Leiber clutch & Chopard Fine Jewelry.

MY VERDICT: It was a bit sunnier tonight at the Cannes Film Festival, and part of that was due to the stunning butter yellow gown that Fan Bingbing wore the premiere of “Jeune & Jolie”. Fan glided gown the red carpet in a Elie Saab gown, from the designer’s Spring 2012 Haute Couture collection. The full skirt is obviously the major focal point of the dress, but the dazzling bead work of the three-quarter sleeve bodice doesn’t lack for luster either. What a beauty.

Fan accessorized her effortlessly glamorous ensemble with a Judith Leiber crystal clutch, Chopard heart-shaped diamond and briolette drop earrings, and a matching ring. An elegant up-do and fiery red lips were the finishing touches.

Selena Gomez in Atelier Versace | 2013 Vanity Fair Oscar Party

WHO: Selena Gomez
WHERE & WHEN: 2013 Vanity Fair Oscar Party on February 24, 2013.
WEARING: Atelier Versace dress, Jimmy Choo shoes, Judith Leiber clutch

MY VERDICT:  After coming off an international press tour for her new movie “Spring Breakers” last week, Selena made it back to Hollywood in time for the Vanity Fair Oscar party where she donned a little couture.  The 20-year-old cutie arrived wearing a frothy shimmering pale nude gown from the Fall 2012 Atelier Versace collection, which included quite the ‘boosting’ bustier and a draped, full skirt.  Although Sel carries the dress well thanks to her slim and tall figure, I still don’t think it’s the best choice for her.

Something just feels off, but at this point I’m not sure if it’s the actual dress or the hair and accessories.  | continue reading..

Sally Field in Valentino Couture | 2013 Oscars

WHO: Sally Field
WHERE & WHEN: 85th Academy Awards on February 24, 2013.
WEARING: Valentino Haute Couture dress, Judith Leiber clutch

MY VERDICT: I didn’t include Sally in my wish list for the Oscars because, in my mind, the only thing the “Lincoln” star really needed was a dress in red.  Details weren’t really an issue for me as long as it fit her well—and it was red.

Sally arrived to the attend the ceremony, in which she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress, looking absolutely amazing — unsurprisingly — in a long-sleeve silk-chiffon Valentino gown, from the Fall 2012 Haute Couture collection, in a gorgeous scarlet!

Not only was it my favorite color for Sally, but the sheer long sleeves, pulled fabric at the bodice and feminine tiers along the long train were so glamorous and flattering for her.  I loved her look, and she didn’t even really need to do much.  Sally completed her look with a flatting up ‘do, soft makeup, diamond jewels, and a crystal “Princess” minaudière by Judith Leiber.

Miranda Lambert in Roberto Cavalli | 2013 GRAMMY Awards

Miranda Lambert in Roberto Cavalli | 2013 GRAMMY AwardsPhotos: Zimbio; Jimmy Choo; Kimberly McDonald
WHO: Miranda Lambert
WHERE & WHEN: 55th Grammy Awards on February 10, 2013.
WEARING: Roberto Cavalli dress, Jimmy Choo, Judith Leiber clutch & Kimberly McDonald jewelry.

MY VERDICT: I had a few ideas in mind of what I would’ve liked to have seen Miranda wear at the Grammys as I had grown tired of ill-fitting looks that had been letting her down on the red carpet recently.  She may have worn something that didn’t even cross my mind as a possibilty, but that doesn’t mean I disliked it.  The Country singer looked beautiful in a midnight blue silk-chiffon Roberto Cavalli gown, which featured a plunging neckline and a high thigh slit.  I love the color, and the draping at the waist gave her a bit of a slimming effect as well—what woman doesn’t love that?

Miranda styled her long honey-blonde locks in a pretty partially gathered swept ‘do that allowed for her multicolored geode Kimberly McDonald statement earrings to, well, make a statement.  | continue reading..

Jennifer Lawrence in Christian Dior Couture | 2013 BAFTAs

WHO: Jennifer Lawrence
WHERE & WHEN: 2013 EE British Academy Film Awards on February 10, 2013.
WEARING: Christian Dior Haute Couture dress, Judith Leiber clutch & Chopard jewelry.

MY VERDICT: When I first saw Jennifer emerge on the red carpet I was not feeling her slicked back hairstyle at all, but considering the pouring rain, I now realize she had the smartest ‘do of all.  The “Silver Linings Playbook” star covered up her BAFTA gown with a black evening coat outside, but quickly shed it when she got indoors to show off her gorgeous Christian Dior Spring 2013 Haute Couture pale pink silk crepe embroidered evening dress.  I personally think this is the best gown that Jen has worn all award season-long.  The figure-hugging silhouette flattered her curves, and the jewel embellishments were colorfully stunning, but it’s the overall look that captured her youthful beauty unlike some of her previously aging or overwelming frocks.  This is the first time that the gown has worked with Jen instead of taking over. | continue reading..

Katy Perry in Rafael Cennamo | Clive Davis’ 2013 Pre-GRAMMY Gala

WHO: Katy Perry
WHERE & WHEN: Clive Davis & The Recording Academy’s 2013 Pre-GRAMMY Gala and Salute to Industry Icons honoring Antonio “L.A.” Reid on February 9, 2013.
WEARINGRafael Cennamo dress, Charlotte Olympia  shoes, Judith Leiber clutch, and jewelry from Norman Silverman & Misaki.

MY VERDICT: How stunning was Katy last night as she attended the Clive Davis party?  The 28-year-old singer looked beautiful in a sparkling pearl embellished long sleeve gown by Rafael Cennamo.  The dress was literally dripping pearls and crystal beading!  I don’t often see Katy in such a light color, but the cream-colored dress looked lovely against her warm complexion and black sculpted tresses.  It was such an ethereal moment for her.  What I really love about this dress is the fact that the pearls aren’t heavy throughout; they fall in a gradient effect with the larger details starting at the boatneck before fading below the waist. | continue reading..

Katy Perry in Alexander McQueen | 2013 MusiCares Person Of The Year Gala

WHO: Katy Perry
WHERE & WHEN: 2013 MusiCares Person Of The Year Gala Honoring Bruce Springsteen on February 8, 2013.
WEARING: Alexander McQueen dress, Alexandre Birman shoes, Judith Leiber clutch & Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.

MY VERDICT: Katy shined bright in tangerine when she stepped out on the red carpet for the annual pre-Grammys MusiCares Person Of The Year Gala, which honored Bruce Springsteen.  The “Wide Awake” singer allowed for her raven black long curls to stand out while flaunting her famous curves in a high neck Alexander McQueen gown, from the Resort 2013 collection.  The smooth backless design features a glittering gorgeous multicolor crystal neckline, which dubs as a necklace.  Emily Blunt wore this back in October, and while I liked the dress on the actress, I was disappointed with the lack of the belt.  In Katy’s case, I’m actually glad she passed on it as I feel like it would have truncated her body considering her larger bust. | continue reading..

Julianne Hough in Alberta Ferretti | “Safe Haven” Hollywood Premiere

Julianne Hough in Alberta Ferretti | 'Safe Haven' Hollywood PremierePhotos: Zimbio; Style.com
WHO: Julianne Hough
WHERE & WHEN: “Safe Haven” Hollywood premiere on February 5, 2013.
WEARING: Alberta Ferretti dress, Giuseppe Zanotti shoes, Judith Leiber clutch & Martin Katz Fine Jewelry.

MY VERDICT: It was a big night for Julianne, who shimmered her way down the red carpet for the premiere of her new movie “Safe Haven” in this gleaming Alberta Ferretti Spring 2013 gown.  The 24-year-old actress selected the light grey soft metallic sleeveless design, which features a beautiful lace bodice with beaded embroidery throughout.  Surprisingly, my favorite part of this dress is not the heavily embellished front, but the sculpted scattered lace illusion back.  Julianne gave her short blonde bob-cut locks some glamorous bounce with a swept back ‘do that featured an assortment of curls gathered in the back.  With such a busy dress, I’m glad that she left her makeup light and finished with a complimenting crystal Judith Leiber clutch.

Kate Mara in Givenchy | “Side Effects” NY Premiere

Kate Mara in Givenchy | 'Side Effects' NY PremierePhotos: Zimbio; Barneys New York; Nicholas Kirkwood; Judith Leiber
WHO: Kate Mara
WHERE & WHEN: “Side Effects” New York premiere on January 31, 2013.
WEARING: Givenchy by Riccardo Tiscidress, Nicholas Kirkwood shoes & a Judith Leiber clutch.

MY VERDICT: Kate supported her sister Rooney’s new movie “Side Effects”, and hit the red carpet for the New York premiere.  The 30-year-old actress kept her look pretty low-key as she opted for a ruffled hem LBD by Givenchy with a dropped waist and cap sleeves. Although the mini dress never made it down the catwalk, you can find it available at Barneys New York.  Kate wore her long brunette tresses out in loose waves before simply completing her look with soft makeup, a pair of white-swirl embroidered black suede island platform pumps by Nicholas Kirkwood, and a metallic deco clutch from Judith Leiber.  Simple and sweet. | continue reading..

Teresa Palmer in Philip Armstrong | “Warm Bodies” Hollywood Premiere

Teresa Palmer in Philip Armstrong | 'Warm Bodies' LA PremierePhotos: Zimbio; Judith Leiber
WHO: Teresa Palmer
WHERE & WHEN: “Warm Bodies” Hollywood premiere on January 29, 2013.
WEARING: Philip Armstrong dress, Jimmy Choo shoes, Judith Leiber clutch, and Jacob & Co. jewelry

MY VERDICT: In honor of her new zombie film, the Australian actress looked beautiful as she slipped into a dramatic lace “Narcissa” gown by Philip Armstrong.  Considering I find the red background and carpet too harsh for anything but a solid color outfit, I’m glad Teresa wore black; she didn’t clash, and I could focus on the overall appearance.  It was nice to see her pass on something short and predictable; the fit was good and the design had a cool feminine edge about it.

I’m really into the leather and lace look, so the bodice is obviously my favorite part.  We’ve been graced with plenty of similar sheer designs on the red carpet lately, but the trend was isolated to the bodice instead of being excessive here. I can’t help but like it. | continue reading..
