Rose Byrne in Valentino | 2013 SAG Awards

WHO: Rose Byrne
WHERE & WHEN: 19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards on January 27, 2013.
WEARING: Valentino dress, Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry

MY VERDICT: A lot can change in a year.  This time twelve months ago we were watching Rose rocked the SAGS red carpet in a fashion-forward white embellished jumpsuit, and now I’m feeling so bored.  The colors and pattern of her Valentino gown are both nice, but the giant ruffles gown the side are just too much. Maybe if they were limited to just below the skirt and the shoulders were sleek, it wouldn’t be so bad. Sadly, that wasn’t the case.  I liked her retro pin curls and bright pink pout, but it wasn’t enough to save the overall look for me.

Julianne Moore in Chanel Couture | 2013 SAG Awards

Julianne Moore in Chanel Couture | 2013 SAG AwardsPhotos: Zimbio; Style.com
WHO: Julianne Moore
WHERE & WHEN: 19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards on January 27, 2013.
WEARING: Chanel Couture dress, Charlotte Olympia shoes & Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry.

MY VERDICT: I guess Julianne tried to recreate the magic of her last two-toned red carpet look, but fell a bit short last night when she slipped into some ill-fitting Chanel Haute Couture, from the Fall 2011 collection.  The bottom half of the “Game Change” stars dress was really pretty; I liked the navy flower appliqués, but the plunging v-neckline was so baggy and unattractive.  It definitely needed some adjusting at the sides and needed some extra fabric modification to make the “V” not dip so far underneath her bust.  That works for some people, but not in this case.

As for the rest of her look, Julianne’s hair was practically perfect, the makeup was just enough and those Van Cleef & Arpels diamonds packed some major sparkle.  I wish we could have gotten a glimpse of her Charlotte Olympia heels.

Adele in Burberry | 2013 Golden Globes

Adele in Burberry Prorsum | 2013 Golden GlobesPhotos: Zimbio
WHO: Adele
WHERE & WHEN: 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards, held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills on January 13, 2013.
WEARING: Burberry dress, Miu Miu shoes, Cartier & Van Cleef and Arpels jewelry.

MY VERDICT: It was so nice to see Adele back out on the red carpet for the Golden Globes last night, but it was even better to see her snag a trophy of her own for the beautiful theme to “Skyfall” that she recorded.  The new mama looked beautiful in her custom-made black Burberry gown, which featured flattering cropped long sleeves and an embroidered neck.  With her signature heightened hair, cat-lined eyes and red talon nails in place,  Adele completed her look with diamond jewelry and a pair of Miu Miu heels.  I love her retro style;  you really have to own it or else it looks forced and tacky.  She emitted nothing but beauty and class.

Isla Fisher in Reem Acra | 2013 Golden Globes

Isla Fisher in Reem Acra | 2013 Golden GlobesPhotos: Zimbio; Style.com
WHO: Isla Fisher
WHERE & WHEN: 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards, held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills on January 13, 2013.
WEARING: Reem Acra dress, Casadei shoes, Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry & a Rodo bag.

MY VERDICT: Isla Fisher looked so beautiful on the red carpet tonight in this dazzling Reem Acra dress.  I recently gushed about how much I loved the crystal and sequin embellishing of this beige cap sleeve tulle gown on one of my wish lists, so I’m thrilled that it was Isla’s selection for this special and high-profile occasion.  The fit was perfect, but it’s every inch of the detailing that truly leaves you captivated. Isla was a true Hollywood beauty; she completed her look with a dramatic raspberry pout, Van Cleef  & Arpels diamonds, and side parted Veronica Lake-inspired waves.

WHO: Camilla Belle
WHERE & WHEN: The Art of Elysium’s 6th Annual HEAVEN Gala at 2nd Street Tunnel in Los Angeles on January 12, 2013.
WEARINGCarolina Herrera dress,  Casadei shoes, Jimmy Choo bag, Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry.

MY VERDICT: Camilla shut that grey carpet down when she arrived looking nothing short of absolutely stunning!  The 26-year-old actress wore a watercolor polka dot pattern better than I think most people could; she selected an off-the-shoulder gown from Carolina Herrera‘s Pre-Fall 2013 collection that featured a tiered skirt and long train.  I just adore everything about this look; from the fit of the dress and bursting color against Camilla’s complexion and dark features, to the dazzling diamonds and youthfully elegant up-do.  I would say she nailed this one, wouldn’t you?

The Australian actress elegantly posed in her Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci winter white gown with a billowing top, but tucked waist. This looks so cozy for the December weather that it’s almost hard to believe it comes from the recent Spring 2013 collection. The crew neck, long sleeved design features a draped open back above the rear and gold epaulettes at the shoulders.

It’s been exactly one week since we saw another Tisci design at a London premiere. Remember Anne’? | continue reading..
