For the first time ever,
SELENA GOMEZ covers the July issue of ELLE Magazine — lens by
Carter Smith.
The 19-year-old actress-turned-popstar has been the subject of many tabloid chatter, mostly centering around her highly publicized relationship with Justin Bieber, but also due to her burgeoning pop music career, a debut signature fragrance and two upcoming movies — the animated “Hotel Transylvania” and next year’s “Spring Breakers”, where Selena more than sheds her Disney girl image.
Not only did she make her ELLE debut, but she did it twice over with a special double issue. For the bright yellow glossy cover, with her name written boldy across her body, Joe Zee styled Selena in a printed tunic from the Fall 2012 collection by Balmain as her long beachy waves, courtesy of hairstylist Harry Josh, cascaded over her shoulders.
The second cover finds Selena in a gorgeous gold embroidered corset dress by Dolce & Gabbana.
I’m having trouble deciding which one is my favorite! But, while I come to a decision — which will ultimately be a tie — let’s check out the full fashion spread from Sel’s editorial.
On Bieber renting out LA’s Staples Center for a private screening of Titanic: “If I’ll share anything with you, it’s that he really is a hopeless romantic. I had just mentioned it in the car – all I said is that I really want to see Titanic again, and then…”
The truth behind her Disney tween career: “Disney is a machine, so people automatically assume that you can’t work for the channel unless you act and sing and dance and sign up for all that. That’s absolutely not true. I always did everything the way I wanted to do it.”
On choosing the right roles for her: “I get offered the teenybopper movies, and I’ve done that. I haven’t done a mega-hundred-billion-dollar Transformers movie, but that’s not what I want to do either.”
From the cover: Selena pairs an embroidered lambskin top from
Balmain with a
Thierry Mugler viscose ivory skirt with two bracelets from
Tiffany & Co.; a yellow gold and sterling silver lock bracelet.
Selena takes the plunge in a metal chain dress with a pyramid buckle belt from the Fall 2012 collection by
Yves Saint Laurent. Rocking ruby red lips — thanks to makeup artist
Polly Osmond — and full long tresses, Sel finishes off with a gold
Tiffany Locks “Heart Lock” gold pendant necklace with the same
Tiffany & Co.link braclets as before.
Additionally she wears a David Yurman curb chain bracelet and a matte gold ID bracelet from Janis by Janis Savitt.
