Review: ZOYA 'Jubilee' Holiday/Winter 2018 Collection

The holiday season will “officially” be underway in just a few days, therefore it’s almost time to rotate every festive nail color you have for the next 6 weeks!

ZOYA will be on-hand, literally, for me this year thanks to their new “JUBILEE” Holiday 2018 Collection that TFC told you about back in September. The vibrant seasonal line features 12 beautiful colors ranging from classic nudes to brilliant reds, glittering shades, an animal print topper and dramatic tones ‘yule’ love!

Basically, it’s a whole mood.

The folks over at ZOYA hooked The Fashion Court up with the line, so I wanted to share my swatch review for you. I’m sure you’ll find a shade (or 12) for your next holiday party look; they also make a special gift to your polish-loving pal or, you know, treat yourself.

Review: ZOYA 'Jubilee' Holiday/Winter 2018 CollectionLEIGH

Leigh – This is described as a “white nude” creme, although it seems a bit more peach-toned to me; it’s a nice nude with good coverage on the first coat — and not much streaking at all. I used two coats for coverage, plus top coat.

Review: ZOYA 'Jubilee' Holiday/Winter 2018 CollectionCARSON

Carson – A mauve/pink-toned nude creme. This is the kind of nude color I prefer. The coverage was good on the first coat, and everything seemed really smooth after the second and top coat. However, my camera seems to have picked up some bald spots that were not noticed before hand.

Perhaps a third coat is needed?

Review: ZOYA 'Jubilee' Holiday/Winter 2018 CollectionMAXINE

Maxine – This is a rich red creme with some pink tones. Though this formula was much thinner than any of the other colors, I still found it had fantastic coverage. If you are someone with short nails, you might even be able to get away with ONE COAT! I used two coats myself, you know, just to be safe.

Review: ZOYA 'Jubilee' Holiday/Winter 2018 CollectionALLISON

Allison – This is a great shade; almost a light berry red, and another great one formula-wise. While I do really like the color, I’m not sure it’s one I’d rock for the holidays or in the winter as I just prefer dark shades. I used two coats for coverage — without top coat.

Review: ZOYA 'Jubilee' Holiday/Winter 2018 CollectionTARYN

Taryn – This is described as a ‘fiery fuchsia, micro-iridescent shimmer with blue undertones”, and while I find that to be pretty spot-on, I don’t think it transfers well from the bottle to the nail. The shimmer is there, but the blue tones don’t come through as much as you see from the bottle.

I had no issue formula-wise at all, and I got full coverage in two coats.

Review: ZOYA 'Jubilee' Holiday/Winter 2018 CollectionCHIARA

Chiara – The kind of deep purple creme that I love! The formula was great — though a tad thicker than the others, but I personally think that’s a good thing. I used two coats for coverage, without a topcoat.

Review: ZOYA 'Jubilee' Holiday/Winter 2018 CollectionKATERI

Kateri – Oh, yes! A beautiful dark brown creme; super smooth formula with zero issue.

I used two coats for coverage, but it was almost a ONE coater!

Review: ZOYA 'Jubilee' Holiday/Winter 2018 CollectionDANICA

Danica – A ‘rich deep teal’ — although it looks more like a dark forest green to me. This polish seemed to dry a little darker than it looks in the bottle and, formula-wise, this was the thinnest of the bunch for sure; almost seemed like a jelly polish. Despite it being thinner, this was easy to apply and I got full coverage in two coats.

Tip: When you remove this one, do it carefully as it has staining potential.

Review: ZOYA 'Jubilee' Holiday/Winter 2018 CollectionASTRID

Astrid – A fantastic ‘liquid gold foil’, this is one I was looking forward to trying and it didn’t disappoint. This metallic shade is super sparkly and perfect for the holiday season. The application was super easy, and if you don’t overload the brush, you might be able to achieve full coverage with one coat — though I did use two. This is also thin enough that you might be able to use it as a topper.

Review: ZOYA 'Jubilee' Holiday/Winter 2018 CollectionCOOKIE

Cookie – This is a new shade from their Pixie Dust line, which I love. This one is a gorgeous purple with gold and, what looks like, pink glitter flecks throughout. Once again, the formula was a breeze to apply even with a wonky brush (it had a few bristles sticking out to the side). I did two coats for coverage, letting the first dry before applying the second since it’s a textured polish.

Review: ZOYA 'Jubilee' Holiday/Winter 2018 CollectionJUNIPER

Juniper – Another gorgeous and sparkling Pixie Dust; this one is a dark teal with almost a slight purple shift and silver specks. The shift and silver don’t seem to be as noticeable on the nail as they are in the bottle though. The formula was a little thinner than Cookie, but still great. Two coats gave me full coverage and, once again, be careful when removing this one because it has major staining potential!

Review: ZOYA 'Jubilee' Holiday/Winter 2018 CollectionCOOKIE with LEOPARD SPOTS
Review: ZOYA 'Jubilee' Holiday/Winter 2018 CollectionJUNIPER with LEOPARD SPOTS

Leopard Spots – This cool new special effect top coat is meant to have you seeing spots! At first I thought Zoya was trying to bring back the crackle polish, especially after seeing this topcoat in action from other swatches — however, this was apparently made to specifically go over the Pixie Dust line of colors.

Now, while you can wear it over any polish, you won’t get the fierce animal print effect unless you’re layering it over a Pixie Dust shade. I love how the effect turns out so much that I’m kind of tempted to grab my other Pixies and test it on all of them!

This was an easy application, but I suggest using as few strokes as possible for the maximum spotted look.

VERDICT: Overall, I found this to be a beautiful holiday collection with a great assortment of colors and solid formula. I would certainly wear all of these, but quite a few of those cremes will have to wait for me to revisit them in January as I need to focus on all of that that shimmer and glitter this season.

I’m really digging the textured shades Cookie and Juniper, sparkling Astrid and that new topcoat Leopard Spots, so I suggest picking any or all of these up. I’m sure you’ll love them too.
