Review: Essie ‘Million Mile Hues’ Winter 2018 Collection

There’s nothing quite like warming up winter blues like doing it with the perfect nail polish, and Essie is clearly on a mission to make you nice and toasty this season because they have launched a gorgeous new line of stunning nail polish shades dubbed the ‘Million Mile Hues’ Winter 2018 Collection.

In this 6-shade line, you’ll find 3 pearlescent hues along with 3 cool cremes in colors that will appeal to everyone whether you love a dramatic polish, a pastel, a metallic or if you’re true to blue. I was so excited to get my hands on these, literally, thanks to the crew at Essie. Check out my swatch review below!

Polar-izing – “A magnetic glacier light pink shimmer”…The shimmer on this one almost makes it look ‘frosty’, which totally reminds me of polish from the 90s–and we all know how on-trend that is right now. On the first coat it was pretty sheer, but I only needed two coats for full coverage.

Bonus: NO STREAKS thanks to Essie’s brilliant new wide brush!

Just the Way You Arctic – A kind of dusty lilac purple that I didn’t think I’d like, but it’s actually really beautiful. The application was super smooth and easy in only two coats. Despite it being a light color (I’m a dark polish girl), I’d definitely wear this in the winter.

Glow with the Flow – Blue pearl shimmer with a subtle but pretty shift of purple and a little pink. You can’t tell too much in the photo, but there are some noticeable silver shimmer flecks.

Again–NO. STREAKS. I love the new wide brush!!

Million Mile Hues – This jewel-toned yellow gold metallic is so cool–especially with the subtle green flecks. I’m not sure it really compliments my skin tone well, but I LOVE it! Know what else I love? The new wide brush! I know I’ve said that with nearly every color, but it really is awesome. With the new brush, I can do less strokes, which means less of a chance of streaking. Full coverage achieved with two coats.

Sights on Nightlights – “A smoked plum purple” … Oh, yesss! I love dark purples and this one is so dark it almost looks black. While it does appear even darker than the bottle on the nail, from the bottle you can tell it’s purple. Silky smooth application with two easy coats.

Hear Me Aurora – A deep and rich almost brick red that every winter collection needs. I absolutely love the color! Once again, the application was a breeze thanks to the smooth formula and new brush.

Honestly, I can’t remember a time I didn’t flood my cuticles with red polish.

VERDICT: The Million Mile Hues collection included a great selection of colors; some dark winners…light shades that shimmer, basically, something for everyone. I’m also obsessed with the new brush and want to replace it in all my Essie polishes! My favorites that I suggest you go grab for yourself would have to be Just the Way You Arctic, Sights on Nightlights, Hear Me Aurora and Million Mile Hues.
