WHO: Dita Von Teese
WHERE & WHEN: “Cleopatra” 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival Premiere on May 21, 2013.

MY VERDICT: Dita radiated in red when she arrived for the Cannes Film Festival premiere of “Cleopatra” wearing a beautiful tea-length Elie Saab gown. The three-quarter length sleeve belted lace cocktail dress comes from the designer’s Spring 2013 Haute Couture collection and includes beaded embroideries throughout heavier patches of delicate lace.

A beautiful dress can stand on its own, but if possible, Dita actually makes this even more appealing than it was on the runway. The scarlet shade pops off of her porcelain complexion, and Dita’s signature retro jet black curls exude elegance. Dita accessorized in red, of course, with a satin Swarovski crystal embellished “Power” clutch and matching pumps.

Rosy cheeks, a matte ruby lip, and a pop of green with emerald ornate earrings were the finishing touches.

WHO: Jennifer Nettles
WHERE & WHEN: 2013 Billboard Music Awards on May 19, 2013.

MY VERDICT: Jennifer shined brightly on the blue carpet for the Billboard Music Awards in a soft pink satin EDITION by Georges Chakra gown. The Sugarland singer selected this Spring 2013 scuba-cut design, which features a pretty gold chevron sequin pattern panel down the left side of her leg that’s framed by silver sequin detail traveling throughout the waist and back.

The dress is very pretty, but the problem with this kind of fabric is that there can be a lot of bunching that occurs pretty easily. I wish Jennifer had a smoother fit around the midsection because she looked so lovely in this gown. There’s also an extra panel of lining poking out through the sleeveless opening of her bodice that wasn’t seen on the model. I’m not sure if it’s supposed to be there or not, but I wish it wasn’t.

Jen wore her blonde tresses loosely swept up and pinned, before completing her look with a makeup palette made up of soft rose tones and an assortment of delicate, sparkling diamond Norman Silverman fine jewelry.

WHO: Katie Chang
WHERE & WHEN: “The Bling Ring” 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival Premiere on May 16, 2013.
WEARING: Christian Dior dress, and jewelry from Dior Fine Jewelry & Swarovski.

MY VERDICT: Did the cast of “The Bling Ring” plan ahead to coordinate their outfits at the Cannes Film Festival premiere? Katie Chang joined her costars Taissa Farmiga, Emma Watson, and even their director Sofia Coppola in black-and-white ensembles.

The young actress looked ethereal in a beautiful Christian Dior white silk crepe gown with a woven black sash belt.

Katie wore her long curls up into an elegant rolled up-do that she accented with dazzling Swarovski crystal “Valora” brooches. These sparkling appliqués matched Katie’s Dior Fine Jewelry, which included “Bagatelle” white gold and diamonds earrings, and the “Oui” white gold, diamonds and aquamarine ring. Subtle makeup and a Dior clutch completed her premiere look.

WHERE & WHEN: Nickelodeon’s 26th Annual Kids’ Choice Awards on March 23, 2013.

MY VERDICT:  Fergie showed off her beautiful growing belly on the Kids’ Choice Awards purple carpet.  The Black Eyed Peas front-woman–and soon-to-be new mama–came out to support her husband Josh Duhmael as he hosted the ceremony.  Fergie showed off her curves in a vibrant long-sleeve colorful landscape printed body-con dress by Mary Katrantzou.  Because the KCAs are practically the kick-off of the summer award show season, it’s fun to see the stars break out their most energetic and brightly colored outfits. | continue reading..

WHO: Nina Dobrev

MY VERDICT: All hail Nina Dobrev!  I’m mean, let’s be real, there’s no denying that the “Perks of Being a Wallflower” actress worked the heck out of the white carpet at Elton John’s annual Oscar viewing party in her black and white patterned Naeem Khan gown.  These photos speak for themselves.  Nina meant business in the Fall 2013 design, which featured a high neck and plunging open back.  I wasn’t a big fan of the sheerness on the runway, so it was nice to see that it wasn’t as intense on her.

As a big fan of elegant ponytails, I was thrilled to see that she took this approach and rocked a high pony with swept back bangs that gave a little effortless volume to the front of her hair.  Nina accessorized with a delicate pair of pretty long Chopard earrings, and carried a black and white Swarovski envelope clutch that added a cool contrast to her dress while also complimenting in color.  In fact, I really like how they match up to each other.  She finished with flawless makeup, which included major sultry smoky eyes and a glossy pout.

What. A. Knockout.

This marks the second year that Nina attended the bash, and this time around was even better than the first.

WHO: Sandra Bullock
WHERE & WHEN: 85th Academy Awards on February 24, 2013.
WEARING: Elie Saab Haute Couture dress, Daniel Swarovski clutch

MY VERDICT: Sandra looked sensational on the red carpet for the 2013 Oscars as she graced us with a beautiful Elie Saab black gown, from the Spring 2013 Haute Couture line.  The cap sleeve design featured full beaded embroidery and lace panel elements.  If you saw the Oscar Wish List I did, you’ll know that this exact dress was one I had hoped to see this year.  To say that I’m thrilled that it was not only worn, but donned by someone as beautiful as Sandra, would be an understatement.

Not much else was needed to be done with such a detailed dress, therefore Sandra simply accessorized with a vintage Swarovski clutch, a diamond clip in her sleek tresses, matching diamond stud earrings, and smoky eyes paired with a nude pout.

WHO: Carrie Underwood
WHERE & WHEN: 55th Annual Grammy Awards on February 10, 2013.
WEARING: Roberto Cavalli dress, Swarovski clutch

MY VERDICT: I think I hyped up my Wish List choices for Carrie so much that when I actually saw what she wore to the Grammys, I was kind of disappointed.  That’s not to say that her strapless Roberto Cavalli gown with a beaded motif pattern and fishtail hem wasn’t beautiful, because it was.  I just set myself up for boldness–for color.  I liked the drama of Carrie’s dress, but the diamond necklace feels out of place. It’s too bright for the fabric and style, therefore I would have rather seen her in darker tone jewelry, you know, more along the lines of what Miley Cyrus rocked a pre-Grammy party. | continue reading..

MY VERDICT:  Beyoncé hit the GRAMMYs red carpet in chic comfort when she rocked a OSMAN by Osman Yousefzada jumpsuit, from the designer’s Spring 2013 collection.  The “End of Time” singer opted for a cool black short sleeve slim crepe one piece with white panel detailing at one side.  I saw many comments from viewers that they expected Beyoncé to really turn it out in a show-stopping gown–but I, for one, loved it.  When it comes to Bey, she doesn’t need to make some bold statement because anything she wears is going to grab attention.  I thought her outfit was stylish and perfect for the evening.

WHO: The cast of “Glee”
WHERE & WHEN: 19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards on January 27, 2013.

KEVIN McHALE: I had to kick this whole thing off with Kevin because I just don’t think I could have contained my love for his hunter green jacket much longer!  The 24-year-old actor worked the heck out of that red carpet in his monochrome black shirt, tie and trousers while sporting a custom Oscar Olima dark green satin jacket over his shoulders with contrast details.  This was totally unique and eye catching—I loved it.  Kevin finished his look with shiny black dress shoes from Prada.

CORY MONTEITH: This is probably one of the best suit looks I’ve ever seen on Cory.  I loved his Calvin Klein Collection grey tuxedo with black contrast arched lapels and stripes down the sides of his pants.  It was well tailored and suited him very nicely.  Cory finished with black Christian Louboutin dress shoes, Ox and Bull Trading Co. cufflinks and tie bar, and a Versace watch. | continue reading..

WHO: Ariel Winter
WHERE & WHEN: 19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards on January 27, 2013.

MY VERDICT: It appears as though Jenna Ushkowitz wasn’t the only star on the SAGs red carpet that turned to Australian designer Alex Perry for their gown for the big night. Ariel Winter from ABC’s hit series “Modern Family” stepped out at the Shrine Auditorium wearing a nude “Illiana” gown from the designer’s Spring 2013 collection, which features tulle sleeves, and pink and green sequin embellishments along the bodice that were shaped as flower appliqués. The design is sweet, and I’m glad the 15-year-old kept her makeup and accessories pretty low-key. However,  I think that gathering those waves into a ponytail would have put more focus on the detail of the dress.
