You can always count on some of the most memorable fashion moments to occur on the runway at Paris Fashion Week during the Ready-to-Wear fall season —and that’s not just me being biased because I’m an October baby and I live for the cozy autumnal style. For the Fall/Winter 2015-2016 presentation by Zadig & Voltaire, the French fashion label debuted an eclectic collection dubbed “Midnight Vagabond”, which is inspired by the young and rebellious Parisian woman breezing effortlessly through the underground rock scene with quiet elegance and a vibrant attitude. You know, the one with the perfectly imperfect effortless wavy mane, day old eyeliner, cropped skinny jeans, those ankle boots that go with everything, the lived-in tee, lacy bralette, and gotta-have-it leather jacket that instantly has you resembling the emoji icon with hearts for eyes.
There are some fashion shows that are aesthetically pleasing but provide looks that could be challenging when plucked straight from the runway for an evening on the town. With the latest from Zadig & Voltaire, I found myself wanting to mix and match many of the pieces to create several day to night ensembles—even transitioning throughout every season. From the studded micro-mini skirts to cropped trousers, multicolored fur coats to embellished leather biker jackets, delicate turquoise floral patterns, feather infused hats and jewel toned python booties to gritty distressed knits and crossbody bags designed with direct inspiration from guitar shoulder straps. Speaking of, Z&V’s beloved “Skinny Love” bag is one of the satchels that was re-imagined in colored python leather with an edgy studded shoulder strap.
This collection exudes cool, and I feel it has something that can appeal to many women who are just a little bit rock ‘n roll.
