MY VERDICT: Leave it up to Cate to show up at a Chanel dinner …and not wear anything from the fashion house, but that’s exactly what she did. As the Cannes jury president this year she must have had her day full of screeners and press, so I don’t blame her for wanting to keep her evening look relaxed. Cate’s been on a suit kick lately, and this time around she opted for a black two piece ensemble with blue piping from the Loewe Fall/Winter 2018 line. I like the asymmetric pocket placement and split cape-like sleeves but, more than that, I prefer the modification of the plunging neckline.
