MY VERDICT: I thought I had reached my fill of jumpsuits on the red carpet with so many to enjoy these last few weeks, but Naya Rivera reawakened my interest when she hit the red carpet for the MuchMusic Video Awards in Toronto this weekend. Amy looked beautiful in a stunning shade of shimmering raisin as she donned this sleek L’Wren Scott knee-length cocktail dress. MY VERDICT: Jessica Alba arrived on the leopard carpet (OMG!) for Spike TV’s Guys Choice Awards 2013 this weekend wearing quite the colorful ensemble. The 32-year-old actress flaunted her toned figure in a sexy little yellow bustier Atelier Versace mini dress, which popped against her glowing bronze skin. She added an extra citrus dose with dark orange pointed toe Céline pumps. It’s summertime so this was fun, and she can clearly pull it off. Jessica wore her honey-highlighted tresses in sculpted waves and pinned to one side before she finished the look with dagger stud and star Jacquie Aiche gold earrings. | continue reading..

MY VERDICT: Emma was the epitome of “youthful chic” when she stepped out for the Los Angeles premiere of “The Bling Ring”. After rocking a cute strapless peplum top and trousers on the red carpet the previous night, the 23-year-old English actress flaunted her legs in a sassy black-and-white tweed Chanel dress. The fit-and-flare hidden pocket design comes from the Fall 2013 collection, and features a bold and edgy extended collar that I think is just so–simply put: “cool”. I really dig this dress, and despite her glamorous smoky eyes, vixen red pout, and perfectly coiffed up-do, she just looked so relaxed and effortless. | continue reading..

MY VERDICT: Selena was one of the first to hit the blue carpet at the Billboard Music Awards where she is set to perform her new single “Come and Get It”. The 20-year-old “Spring Breakers” star opted for a daring white floor length dress from the Atelier Versace Spring 2013 collection with sheer spiraling illusion panels at the front and back and fluorescent bordering trim in pink, lime, and yellow. I wouldn’t label this as one of my favorite looks from her, but it’s a fun dress–very futuristic, and as one of my readers pointed out–it’s totally reminiscent of the wardrobe in the 1999 Disney Channel movie “Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century”.

MY VERDICT: Brittany went heavy on the embellishments and short on length when she rocked a midnight blue Lela Rose mini dress at the MTV Movie Awards. The “Pitch Perfect” starlet showed off some leg in the Fall 2013 design, which featured a gathered waist and dazzling beaded embroidery along the shoulders. MY VERDICT: Vanessa couldn’t have shocked me more with her “Spring Breakers” premiere dress if she tried.  The 24-year-old stepped out on the hot pink carpet wearing a gown by Naeem Khan, from the designer’s Fall 2012 runway collection.  The dramatic full-length dress features a collection of gold, black and bone-colored beading and paillettes for the sleeveless shell bodice that connects to a feathered skirt with a high thigh slit.  The end result?  A fierce dress that powerfully overwhelmed the petite star.  | continue reading..

MY VERDICT: Diane joined her actor boyfriend Joshua Jackson at the Vanity Fair Oscar after party where the duo donned matching black and white outfits. Josh stuck by a classic Berluti tuxedo while the “Host” star rocked an angled patterned sequin-embroidered cocktail dress from the Spring 2013 Haute Couture collection by Giambattista Valli.  The long sleeve design gave the appearance of an attached cape, but from the side, it looks as though a large gust of wind just hit the actress. | continue reading..

WHERE & WHEN: 85th Academy Awards on February 24, 2013.

MY VERDICT: I may have had Naomi pegged for jewel-tone color at the Oscars this year, but the “Impossible” actress was thinking more along the lines of shimmering metals.  Naomi hit the garnet carpet for the ceremony, where she was nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role, wearing a custom-made Armani Privé gown.  The form-fitting asymmetric design was enveloped in layered gunmetal grey sequins, and featured a single cap sleeve, a cutaway element on the opposite side, and a sexy low-dipping open back.

All in all, I thought the dress was cool—but something felt off, like it needed to either be strapless or cap-sleeved entirely. As for Naomi’s hair, she was one of the few stars who really did something with it and I appreciated that.  The loose swept back chignon was stunning, but I believe it would’ve been best with a much more regal gown.  It’s as if she was wearing two different looks.  Soft makeup and Neil Lane drop earrings helped provide the finishing touches.

WHO: Zoe Saldana
WHERE & WHEN: 85th Academy Awards on February 24, 2013.
WEARING: Alexis Mabille Couture dress, Roger Vivier shoes, Salvatore Ferragamo clutch & Neil Lane jewelry.

MY VERDICT: In my opinion, Zoe was one of the best dressed stars at the Academy Awards this year in her Alexis Mabille gown.  This was one of my favorite dresses on the Spring 2013 Haute Couture runway, but I wasn’t expecting to see it on Oscar night.  It’s always nice to be surprised!  I think Zoe brought new life to the silk pale belted gown, which featured petal embroidery along the strapless bust and a split skirt edged in greyscale tiers. It fit her figure beautifully, highlighted her complexion, and took on a whole new level on glamour with a simple side pose.  Look at the way the train perfectly glides! | continue reading..
