WHERE & WHEN: “Everybody Knows” Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony Premiere on May 8, 2018.

MY VERDICT: My first impression when I saw Cate arrive for the opening ceremony premiere was clearly a feeling of déjà vu. Cate revisited the Giorgio Armani Privé Fall 2013 gown that she wore to the 2014 Golden Globe Awards for her first trip down the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals de Cannes of the year. The lace embroidered couture gown features a dramatic plunging open back that was slightly modified for her second time wearing it. While part of me is bummed that it was a missed opportunity to see her in something from my wish list, a bigger part is so excited to see her squash that taboo of “not wearing the same gown twice”. It’s a silly ‘rule’, and I’m happy to see Cate break it.
If a dress is that nice, why shouldn’t you wear it twice?
Unlike the first time around, Kate wore her hair pull back in a chignon to allow for her exquisite multicolored Chopard High Jewellery diamond earrings to stand out. Check out the close-up of those beauties below!
